Does anyone know the reason for the delay at Crewe to this morning's service?

According to RTT, this, and the Lancaster portion to which it joins, arrived near enough to time, and then departure was delayed by 20 minutes.

Were there problems in coupling the two units?

All the VT website says is "sorry for the delay"

There appears to be signalling problems between Stafford and Colwich. I don't know whether this would be related.

You could be right.
Incidentally, RTT shows this train eventually arriving at Euston's platform 12 at 0905.25, making the predicted return departure at 0910 to Holyhead seem rather optimistic!

Computer states that the 20 delay at CRE wass due to 1R13 having Unit Problems.

Plus another 11 late at Colwich due to the Signalling Issues and TCF
