An irony I notice is that, whereas routes to Widnes/Runcorn (61, 79c, 82a & X4) are due to remain commercial with Arriva, the route going even further east to Warrington (7) is due to join TfLCR franchising.
This is of course because it runs from a garage in the area, namely Green Lane, whereas...
That would be nice, but as Arriva are allowed to keep the number 61 for their commercial route, I think the Bootle - Aigburth Vale route will get a 60s number like 64 or 67.
The poster whose post I replied to might be better placed to answer.
In practice, I think he means that the vehicles that were 7900Es have now been scrapped, with the metal being used to manufacture new razor blades.
Ironically, franchising will therefore see routes 53, 82 & 86 follow route 10a in losing their electric buses, at least for the time being.
I expect something else to move into Gillmoss, maybe route 15 or 62 for example.
Another reason why "franchising" is not the most applicable definition is that the franchise winners do not have freedom to do what they want where they have won. They run the exact network and timetables specified by the CA, and at fares specified by the CA.
I got caught out for the August Bank Holiday. I was considering 2 trains an hour apart, the one slightly earlier than I wanted was IIRC around £1.50 cheaper. Now it has gone down and matches the price of my later train I had settled for.
Journey is Manchester Piccadilly - Huyton in case...
OK thank you for preparing me.
I realise I did use C2C in 2013/14 but have not used that line since.
I was only due to travel out as far as Rainham, but may use other lines instead to avoid those dilapidated 357s.
What I find more significant is not when rolling stock is repainted, but when it is refurbished and given new seating moquette.
Mind you, as I don't think I've been on a 357 since 2008 I may find it different from expected for when I ride one next month.
For a change I stayed at Ramada Encore in Gateshead about 3 weeks ago.
Their B&B rate was only around £7 higher than Premier Inn.
When I checked breakfast times I saw these started at 6.30 Mon-Fri but 8.00 Sat/Sun.
Thankfully it was not a Friday night. However, as I would have found 8.00...
It is amusing that some of the dumped E400Hs in the yard opposite Stockport garage have notices on them I'm a Bee Network bus waiting to be made yellow.
I presume they will never be made yellow for Bee Network now ;)
