Hello, I did make a thread last month in the Fares forum but I feel now I would like the advice in relation to this being a dispute. On 19th July 2019 I bought an off-peak return from Crewe to Manchester using my 16-25 railcard. I attempted to board the 10.12 Virgin train from Crewe to...

From the sounds of it OP was home alone revising and has no evidence of this. No purchases, no google tracking and no witnesses.

Thanks, the 09.20 one departed and arrived on time. I’m not sure about the 10.20. It was probably on time as well to be honest but I just had a much more enjoyable day not clock watching and panicking haha.

Hi all, I got the 09.20 bus and my ticket was not checked so hooray I am currently in Preston and on time! Thanks so much to the forum as I would never have thought to get that bus!

So would the guard be in his right to deny me to board the 9.20 bus? If my ticket isn’t checked could I be done for a bylaws offence?

OK so getting the 09.20 bus would just be dependent on a kind train guard bending the rules?

Hi please see my ticket does this answer your question? If the bus isn’t reservable how come when I called the train to ask to change that part of the journey they wouldn’t let me and said I would have to change the whole journey?

My priority is avoiding any scenario where I may have to end up in court or in some kind of prosecution situation. Can I check does getting the 10.11 train or 09.20 bus not invalidate my ticket? Could this lead to problems on the second leg of the journey that I did not do the correct thing for...

Sorry I failed to mention there are TWO of us! Hence the £154. Yes the 10.20 was the one I selected, there was no option for the 10.11 and still isn't without splitting tickets. I know for future to now always do this.

Next virgin service from Preston is 13.54. There is a 13.04 run by transpennine express but Virgin say I'm not allowed to board it.

The railway can't honour it though if I miss that second leg. And I will, particularly given the state of Cheshire and the floods. Sorry I'm not sure what you mean about the 2 hour isn't for departing now? This is what my tickets say: Crewe 10:20 - Preston 11:45 (bus) Preston 11:54 - Edinburgh...

Can I just buy new tickets going to Preston and then join the second leg of my journey as planned with my original tickets? I have etickets.

Hello, I am travelling tomorrow from Crewe to Edinburgh Waverley at 10.20 via Virgin. The first leg is a replacement bus service to Preston where I change and then get a train from Preston to Edinburgh. I have had a look and the bus journey is predicted to take two hours on google maps...

I think I was just in a world of my own. The problem was before I got to the platform I looked at the board and saw my train was due to arrive at 10.16. So when “a train” arrived precisely at that time I just thought it was right. Stupid I know.

I don’t mind a battle in terms of my time but can’t afford any further financial expense @yorkie. Honestly the XC man was just so unpleasant and hostile and seemed to relish in making the experience as difficult as possible and as profitable as possible for them.

Does it matter how long the train was delayed for? I have my outgoing ticket but my return was eaten by the barrier

Yorkie I believe when I have enquired in the past about getting a refund for an unused ticket, I was advised the administration cost would be £10 yet my ticket was £9.05. I am more upset about the £40, I am a student and I know this doesn’t seem a lot of money but to me that sort of money is...

Yes I have sought to claim a refund. Thank you, I have never heard of ticket endorsement before today but now know for future reference.

It would also be surely impossible for me to have got to Wolverhampton and caught the 10.48 train when there is physical evidence I bought a ticket at Crewe at the ticket machine at 10.00am. The only way I could have got there would have been on that train.

I bought my ticket from the train station at 10.00 am to travel 10 minutes later and surely everything can be verified with CCTV
