I'm having a nightmare trying to plan a journey on 27th December because it's very unclear whether a TOC's timetable is confirmed (at least as "confirmed" as it can be on a strike day) or not. For example, LNER's PDF timetable shows a 11:03 from KGX to LDS but their journey planner shows it as...
Thank you all for the advice and apologies for not replying sooner. Particular thanks to Watershed for suggesting that Avanti's tickets would likely be cheaper. This turned out to be the case. I've managed to book the outbound ticket for £46.40 and the return for £52.00 for two people with a Two...
Hello,
I am due to travel from London to Manchester or Stalybridge (this is my final destination but I can be picked up from/dropped off at Manchester to save time/money) on Thursday 27th October after 17:00, returning on Sunday 30th October. I have a degree of flexibility with my return time...
Thank you all for your thoughts. I intend to make a complaint but want to check that the TOC (in this case, Northern I believe?) have no recourse to take any further action against me? They can't retrospectively decide to issue a penalty fare (if valid, I'm not sure if it applies to this...
I suspect the important part of the Transport Focus link is this:
The "may" that I have highlighted is key. What scenarios mean you would be treated differently? The ambiguity is very unhelpful.
I was quite aware this was a possibility so didn't push too hard but I'm quite confused as to what I should have done in this situation. Should I have missed my train in order to buy a ticket? How much time should passengers allow to purchase a ticket? What if the ticket office is supposed to be...
Thanks for the clarification. What does "arrive in time to purchase" mean in reality? I rarely have to wait at all to purchase a ticket at this station so in my opinion we had enough time.
Edit: If the rule is that I should have purchased a ticket before travelling then should they not have...
Yesterday I travelled from Stalybridge to Manchester Victoria on the 13:30 service. We (there were 4 of us in total) arrived about 7 minutes before the train was due as we needed to buy a ticket.
Unfortunately the desk was closed and there was a queue of at least 5 people in front of me to use...
I am currently on https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/P58156/2019-11-03/detailed which is stood outside Atherstone station due to "a local power failure". Anyone know how long it has been going on and what the delays might be? I've seen one train go past in the other direction a few minutes...
I hadn't seen that, thanks! Looks like this might be our best option unless someone finds something creative.
It's at 20:55. We will need time to sample the delights of Stansted's food offerings before the flight!
Ah, of course, thanks for clarifying that.
Hi,
My wife and I need to get from central London to Stansted Airport on Thursday leaving around 18:00 and we will be returning on Sunday around the same time but to Woolwich Arsenal. What is the cheapest way for us to do this journey? We work near Moorgate and Tower Hill so were originally...
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
