Correct, a portion of driving roles are now allocated to the progression programme within the company, so essentially it does reduce the number of externals joining courses so talent pools will take more time to be sifted now

UPDATE: ignore my previous post I’ve chased this up and can confirm we still do get the southeastern and high speed free travel arrangements :D

I'm unsure on the advice the above have been given or if any of you work for GTR, but I can confirm travel services with Southeastern finished when they were stripped of the franchise during the fraud investigation around a year ago. Only free travel is included on the Go ahead group services...

Yes this does happen, usually it means you passed absolutely fine on points etc.. but someone else or a few others got more points or were more suited to the role. Likely they may keep you in mind if one does arise again but I'm not aware of them doing this they often will recruit again

4 weekly is great, because as you get 13 pay dates, there comes a time where your monthly rent/mortgage comes outside of a pay date, so you get a whole 4 weeks where you dont pay

4 weekly yes, but not the same, for instance Southern is the week before Thameslink

You may be mistaking the two different routes that recruitment take You either are lucky and get a course fairly quickly, or you will enter a talent pool hold which is where it can take many years to exit

I'm a shunter for GTR, you wont drive but will prep units etc.. it's a very involved and great career. A great step to going to driver too, Isolations are when power is isolated for example in an emergency or during engineering works etc..

Unfortunately many are waiting across SWR, Courses arent running anymore this year im told as they need to clear a large backlog of training, they possibly will resume next year for those with course dates provisional for this year, then maybe they will take talent pool in a couple of years now...
