If you click on the details for the individual journey, it does note that you need to buy more than one ticket for the route. This should perhaps be clearer, though. NRE does the same thing for Kings Cross to Welwyn North. Some of its suggestions are the more expensive route via Stevenage.

My experience has been quite the opposite. My season ticket goes through 4-6 gates a day and fails after 3-4 months. I think they're used to it. No-one on the gateline ever asked me why I wasn't putting my ticket in the gate.

On the subject of easements and Stevenage, what's this one about? My immediate reaction is "Well... yes. How else do you do it?" It seems to be stating the completely obvious, which is puzzling.
