    ScotRail filthy windows

There seem to have been a lot of graffiti recently as well, or there has been no time to have units properly cleaned to remove it. Several units in and around Glasgow have the spots of the livery completely missing due to the power washing

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

A few years ago I had to hire an auto for my partner. and she was so used to driving EVs she didn't want a manual anymore. I had requested an auto medium-sized hatch, and what was presented to me was a VW T-Roc R (the 300hp SUV). So I can well believe that for smaller cars where manuals are more...

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

Which is also the TVM which Scotrail trialled at Glasgow Central for a year(?) (now removed though)

    RIP old National Rail app

I am biased as I am a developer for TrainSplit, but I would like to chip and and say: a) thank you for reporting bugs to us, we are a small team and they do get read and prioritised by the development team b) I would say our main priority trying to make the best customer experience we can for...

    First Greater Glasgow

First time in my life so far I’ve seen the “new” buses become the ones being withdrawn! I always liked how gruff the engines sounded at idle on that batch of Geminis

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

Yes, the TrainSplit app can be used for journeys wholly on ScotRail. (This also applies for any TOC in GB, such as TfW, MerseyRail etc) TrainSplit (and therefore also the forum booking site), offers E-Tickets for as many ScotRail journeys as we are able to.

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

And it is even built by a regular user of Scotrail services ;) (well, at least the iOS version is!)

Platform Departure Screens with Wrong Carriage Formation

I fail to see how instead of operating the British system for British passengers, it was operated for Swiss passengers, would be an improvement

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

Unfortunately, TrainSplit is not permitted by the industry to load tickets onto smartcards, and we are unable to sell season and flexipasses.

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

That is correct, however you can sign into the TrainSplit app on both iOS and Android, using the same account you booked tickets with using the forum link, and those forum bookings will be available in the TrainSplit app

Yes. Took a trip down the M6 yesterday, and: - Tebay Southbound services had a queue of 2-3 non Tesla's for the Westmorland rapid chargers, the (probably twice as many) Tesla chargers had a few spots free (but are not yet available to non Tesla) - Killington Lake was down to 4 out of 6...

ScotRail to introduce £10 minimum fare for those not buying before boarding

And it even (accidentally) allows for no minimum fare on travel to Carlisle :D

Should Class 222's be moved from Lumo West Coast to East Coast?

The Hitachi 803 units that Lumo East Coast run are of a significantly higher quality than the current West Coast 222 are/will be, even post refurb. The 803s have better passenger accommodation and seating, ability to use the OHLE, and of course better crash safety given they are 20 years newer ...

Lots of luxury manufacturers (Porsche for sure), intentionally don’t keep stock waiting, as customers (especially the ones based outside Europe) feel more special when hearing their car has to be built specially for them. They have dedicated tracking system for customers so they can see where...

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

This is unfortunately the data that Lumo provides to this industry, and they don’t particularly care about errors such as this, something which applies to several other TOCs as well. The people at TrainSplit are redrawing every problematic coach layout, but it’s a time consuming job, but we do...

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

We've been able to reproduce it internally, but to the best of our knowledge it looks like an iOS bug, which we have reported to Apple. As a workaround, if you long press on the Add to Apple Wallet button, it will open up the UI so that you can add passes to your device

ScotRail to introduce £10 minimum fare for those not buying before boarding

Given that Scotrail intentionally only allow some fares to be sold from a member of staff (Kids for a Quid etc), if the first member of staff is onboard staff, will they allow for exceptions such as that too? Or will they permit more ticket types other than be sold via TVMs?

    Caledonian Sleeper

Small point of order: We are aware of a bug on TrainSplit (and TrainSplit powered products like the forum's ticket service) which may cause incorrect availability to be reported for trains like the Sleeper. It's to do with a supplier of ours and we have reported it to them, but for the short...
