The fact that HS2 is still plodding along currently, makes it look fairly certain that drivers will be ok, where do you think the drivers for HS2 will come from….most likely poached from TOCS & FOCS.
Also as stated above, most TOCS are already massively short staffed.
Definitely go for it, what do you have to lose?
Everybody makes mistakes but as long as you emphasise what you have learned from it then hopefully you’ll be ok.
Just be honest!
Good luck.
The way I see it, the first part is just setting the scene for the question.
First part is saying they want someone who can solve a problem, assess situations and come up with answers.
Now the question poses the problem of getting to work on time when they run 24/7, Do you have the skills to...
Birminghams ‘lockdown‘ is only slightly different to what the rest of the country faces in that they can’t mix households, other than that it’s all the same. Shouldn’t make any difference to recruitment
When I sat the tests for Freightliner, the practise material for the DFFT was more than enough to give you an insight into what to expect.
The only difference being that the practise gave you one problem to solve whereas the real test was two.
But if you work out the practise material then...
17 out of 20 and only standard pass, did they specifically say you’d passed DFFT?
I only did 12 and got the enhanced pass 2 years ago.
Most people I spoke to only got to question 11,12,13 In the time limit.
It’s a little concerning that you say you work in recruitment and you’re saying that your belief is that ‘rail staff’ should be the priority rather than the very best person.
Of course that maybe someone who works on the railway but also it may not be.
Wouldn’t want to be applying as an external...
If that was what you was getting at then I totally agree with you. Nobody has the right to look down on others, all staff have their own great qualities which keeps the network running.
Not all railway staff are clueless, nobody has said that at all. You just sound really bitter about ‘outsiders’ joining as a driver. So bitter that your just throwing statements around with no facts to back it up.
If you passed all your OPC tests then apply for every trainee driver jobs in your area.
This is a numbers game and freightliner keep people waiting for a long time, there is talent pools going back to mid 2018 for FL.
You are not tied to them just because they put you through your assessments.
The OPC MMI tests you in many areas and I agree the feedback was not great but sometimes you have to accept that you were not quite what they was looking for on this occasion.
It is disappointing when you don’t get what you was hoping for but just keep trying.
Now you know what to expect you...
