40044 Llandudno - Newcastle 1Z94
Thanks for confirming that! A great day out. The 11 carriages were so empty!
Wish there were photos of it at Llandudno
I couldn't have put it better myself. Unfortunately threads keep closing here on RailUk Forums, otherwise we would have a continuous thread on which that information could be easily seen.
58022 was bought from a scrapyard by a private individual and donated to the Ivatt Diesel re-creation...
Th Sturgeon wagon travelled up from Dartmoor today. This will be used by the LMS10000 project to carry the 58 chassis while modifications are made to the chassis, ready to fit it to our EM2 bogies.
We are about to begin our "GAINING TRACTION" Fund - to raise £180,000 to create 10000's rolling...
It has slowed down work in our workshop, but we are ploughing ahead at LMS10000 with our re-creation. Got a whole load of innards for the Spanner steam boiler recently. currently working toward certification of the brake system plans. www/lms10000.co.uk
Another step forward with the cab removal. 5 of the 8 mounting bolts are out. We have also made progress on disconnecting pipework and electrical connections, and done a little more preparation on class 58 cab front parts. Another interesting item turned up recently - an ID tag from 37222 on one...
Originally an attempt was made to preserve the whole line intact. But its down to money and opportunity. Given good opportunities the whole line can be reinstated. Haltwhistle yard recently received attention from the Society to clean it up, especially the public access footpath running along it
Today we had a fantastic working day at Wirksworth, mainly working on the 58. All the engine bay roof panels and the body side frameworks were moved up to the workshop. We collected many nuts and bolts and other bits and pieces from the engine bay, and removed a large amount of rust and muck. We...
We have the minutes of the meeting where they decided not to preserve either of them. The reason given was that they did not look like they did originally..... I know, I know.. Don't shoot the messenger
Yes it is the third D16/1 and logically one could call it 10002. in fact I personally would like to see it run as 10002 while in primer during running in. However the Society has consistently said that it will be dressed to represent the original loco and so will spend most of its time as 10000
You can find more information on the website https://lms10000.co.uk including how to become a member for £2 a month or more (decide your own membership rate!!!) And here is the engineering summary: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z4NvayL-ZTpAAhDufQETZifbqvYeeoHi/view?usp=sharing

The move to Wirksworth will enable us to work on the 58 at our own pace and much more conveniently since parts can then be taken straight into our workshop. However the building is not intended to be one to house the locomotive. it is a place to house and refurbish...
It's not really too helpful to talk in terms of a timescale, it's all cash-dependent. In terms of time it could be done within 3 years. More likely 10. The more donations received... the old old story!

Yes it is a coincidence that Classes 58 and D16/1 both had Red Diamond...
Yes the chassis is nigh on perfectly the same size between the bogie centre lines. Some plasma cutting will be necessary on the sides and to create the inward curve of the body toward the buffers on the cab section, all of which will have no effect on the structural strength of the frame...
The power unit from class 58 58022 at Rowsley was removed on Saturday 15th of August following sale to IMPS of Lincoln, a company which refurbishes old diesel power units for further use as generators or in ships.
The Ivatt Diesel Re-creation Society, owner of 58022, will use the locomotives...
It is based on what information I have to hand Sir. i will reserve judgement on the issue for five years after which the long term assessment should be clearer to me.
I have confidence that the management are doing the best in a very difficult set of circumstances that they inherited and which the virus doubled. Let's support and encourage them and wish all heritage lines well in the coming years.
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
