Apparently it runs that way because otherwise it wouldn't be able to take on water at Goathland as the loco is too long. The loco would have to run past the stop sign to do so. Travelled behind it today and asked the driver on arrival at Goathland
Saw this planning notice at Grosmont station today dated 25th March. Says comments are required within 21 days with extension for bank holidays. I take it that no work can start on it until after that date which would make it highly unlikely that works would be complete by 25th April
Read an article today (think it was a tees side paper that the propping up of bridge 42 is a bigger job than expected and as a result services through to grosmont and Whitby will not start until around the end of April.

There was a volunteer recruitment day on at Pickering stn today (Sat) which probably explains why the platforms were occupied. There were Pullman carriages on platform 1 and a rake of ordinary carriages on 2 headed by a class 31
Looking at the calendar for the Pullman services which is now available to book, that starts on Tues 24th March. No services on the Thursday and Friday as per 2025.
Just to the western side of the station and left of Station Road is the remains of what I think was the old platform 1. The platform is well overgrown. It was obviously severed from the road bridge at this point as there are light industrial units there and beyond to the east is the church and...
There appears to be access to the site through the CurrysPCWorld loading area, there is a gate which says something like network rail staff only. I also noticed the other day that there are rails laid within the tracks prior to the site.
