DRS - Trainee Driver (Sellafield) - Recruitment Discussion

if lucky in the recruitment process, i'd be relocating from outside Glasgow

    Assessments & Medicals discussion

Sorry to bother you all, im sure this will probably be a stupid question... but are you able to sit psychometric tests on your own? I ask as I was trying to apply to a trainee scheme but they want a 'passed' psychometric test from within the last 5 years. Ive not had any luck finding this on my...

Chiltern Railways DRS 68s and loco hauled mk3s, withdrawals and final sightings .

I think the question is due to the fact that DRS returned them off lease not all that long ago, atleast that was the rumour

    Class 93 Tri-mode Loco

Were these test trains actually loaded/weighted? It's all good saying they achieved an average of X Y or Z speed... but without knowing the consist weight, we don't know if the speed they mention is any good. Edit: I am aware the wagons had containers on them, but were they fully laden

    GBRf Class 60s

The 22 that are/were rumoured for transfer to Colas, are leased from Beacon Rail... so they would be returning them off lease to Beacon. However GB also own around 30x 66s outright last time I checked

    GBRf Class 60s

Probably, but i'd imagine GB want to minimise the number of locos it's hiring in this year...

GBRf Class 99 - 30 locomotives now ordered

Can only speak for myself, but  this is something I've wanted to see for a while... performance on a 66 schedule... against 99 performance. Although I'd have preferred 66 timings out and back, and 99 timings out and back

GBRf Class 99 - 30 locomotives now ordered

Makes sense to run it on 66 timings

Is Open Access abstractive or does it genuinely plug gaps?

I have to admit, there is a part of me that hopes the ORR shocks everyone and justifys authorising another OAO access agreement... almost as a swan song... a final defiant act To be clear, I do not mean grant access willy nilly. I mean authorise where it can reasonable be done so

Is Open Access abstractive or does it genuinely plug gaps?

I would argue that Hull was well served... Now I admit, my memory is far from perfect, but IIRC Hull was served by a handful of services by GNER (and i certainly do NOT mean the number run by LNER today. HT was established and proved demand for further services... helped HT move from borrowed...

Is Open Access abstractive or does it genuinely plug gaps?

DfT will plead poverty... and would be accused of trying to monopolise the industry, despite that being exactly what they're clearly pushing for... they don't want any operator save for themselves, and the FOCs (and I'd bet they'd be happy without them if they could)...

Hitachi Factory - First Group order 14 new trains with options for 13 more

i would imagine that having units in 5 car formations offers options to , in the future, operate additional services, as well as add further capacity to existing services. If you order 9 cars, you'd be stuck with a long train and remove flexibility for operations

Hitachi Factory - First Group order 14 new trains with options for 13 more

My money would be on the Lumo GW units being Bi mode electric + Battery units (not like the 803s), such as has been mentioned for the Stirling service  IF their access agreement does get extended... but reading through the responses on thr ORR site... reads like carbon copy DfT spec 'anti OAO'...

Hitachi Factory - First Group order 14 new trains with options for 13 more

They won't order for the Stirling service unless their access agreement is extended beyond 2030

Colas to Reduce Class 56 Usage

I suppose it won't be long until they have new identities... you'll no longer be calling them 56094 and 56302 once they make land and get registered with whichever local body is in charge of such things

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

that's certainly as I understand it from what's been suggested in the press. At present they'll be used on the WCML route... IF they can secure a longer term track access agreement, they'll order Hitachi units for the route... with the 222s transferred to a Cardiff to York route (again) if they...

    Headcode enquiry for 2010

Odd enquiry... maybe in the wrong part of the forum, I'm not sure, but could anyone provide me with the headcodeses for the northbound headcode for the gypsum train operated by GBRf to Kirkby Thore, and the return empties to Doncaster, on 14th September 2010. Thanks in advance for any help

Colas to Reduce Class 56 Usage

Mustang admit I've wondered similar about how the Egyptians deal with wipers on their "66s", assured they also have the bars on the cab front windows...

Glad to be corrected. Can't remember any reference to HST... but it was more than a few years back
