Was just about to say No sign of Cardiff to Edinburgh Crosscountry service. Until I saw it's due to start Dec 2025, not Dec 2024. Honestly, I thought was this timetable change.
So many people west of Exeter use the Cardiff service to go to Bristol. Cutting it at Exeter would be bad. As mentioned beforehand the Crosscountry service would suffer.
Yeah Cardiff-Penzance has been a massive success for GWR. Connectivity has increased so much between many communities...
This is awful. Labour have no regard for local investment into rail. I am bitterly disappointed in this, and the government. I honestly thought they would invest in rail and especially in swing areas like tavistock. No care for the South West again.
Was there not ideas floating around of a GWR London Paddington to Birmingham Moor Street service years ago or something relating to post HS2 or the Bordesley Chords?
The 805s look so good. The enchanted screens and passenger information displays. Better seats, water refilling station, cafe bar omg it makes the GWR units look abysmal. GWR really needs a 800 fleet upgrade and they aren't even 10 years old yet. Stupid DfT specification really ruined the older 800s.
Extending the 5 Car GWR units to 7 or 9 car units is much needed. While they are at it install a cafe for the units for Penzance/Plymouth. GWR need a massive uplift for their offering its abysmal.
Crosscountry really does need a whole complete refresh its brand it's tired, dated and a refresh will bring with it new hope that a new brand longer trains will seem new and actual change for many customers. Psychologically (customer wise) it makes sense to have a refresh.
Plymouth is included into the Cornwall PAYG Smartcard scheme with the South East Cornwall stations next phase expansion it seems which would be welcome.
The idea of one single can design and fleet with 2 different interiors is a great move. However you'd need to design the fleet so it could go on the Looe and Gunnislake branches as well.
My understanding was two different interior specs
Interior Spec #1: Intercity type used on Longer West...
My Birmingham to Glasgow service 1707 has been cancelled. Avanti state you can use the service before or after this. Would the 1507 direct to Glasgow constitute as the service before. Or will it be the 1634 Birmingham to Glasgow with change at Preston/Carlisle considering its not a service to...
Gunnislake will continue as a separate 2 hourly as is service. Calling at usual stopping pattern. However an hourly Plymouth to Tavistock service calling at Devonport, Dockyard, Keyham St Budeaux Bere Ferres, Bere Alston and then Tavistock will also run
Network Rail have already done some...
No mention of seats being replaced just new LED lightning, CCTV, passenger counting equipment and new carpets.
Also seems the Cardiff to Edinburgh is one daily service. So something of nothing really.
