I'll admit it's a pain there won't be a direct bus from Abingdon to Oxford station. However I remember nearly 10 years ago a not bad situation where from Abingdon you had the X3's terminate at Oxford then the 4 and 4B's going past Oxford station. Plus an easy swap onto a too frequent 1 or 5 to...
That explains their private hire-spec interiors, at least I've not far to wait for one compared to a rare trip out with a coach operator.
Where's this about the X1 and X15? There's nothing said about the station extension no longer happening.
If it was up to me, I'd allocate 80631-34 and the...
I've not read any information as regards new diesel buses but Oxford Bus Company have used a new red YX26-plate E400 MMC (private hire-spec) on the Oxford - Abingdon - Witney X15 very recently. The latest Spottings and Jottings (Oxford & Chiltern Bus page) shows that.
Apparently these are for...
I'm trying to get my head round the fact that passengers were locked inside the train for a few hours rather than the doors able to be opened in an emergency.
That's enough to put me off a 225 trip in hot weather!
Interesting LNER changes in May 2026...
14:03 London to Aberdeen timetable now terminates at Edinburgh and so does the 14:52 from Aberdeen.
A new 19:25 to London Kings Cross is introduced which presumably is formed after the 14:03 from London.
The 18:36 from Edinburgh to Aberdeen (formed...
Interesting LNER change on this timetable and one that's not likely to go down well with passengers...
On weekdays, the current 14:03 from London Kings Cross to Aberdeen now terminates at Edinburgh, 14:52 from Aberdeen terminated at Edinburgh before running the 18:36 to Aberdeen.
The 10:03 and...
I can't see any other explanation - but as said, if maintenance staff would have been taken away from the 175's then that would make a huge amount of sense, sorry!
That makes sense, sorry. Something new I've learnt so thank you for clearing that up!
To be fair they did have a choice - keep them going til enough 175's were ready and not have other services short formed as a result, different if a failure however!
That looks pretty much perfect :) ! Looks like the font used for 'LNER'. I love the dark blue which I think many rail enthusiasts know the blue locomotives back then!
I believe Blackpool to York did use to extend to / from Scarborough in Arriva Trans Northern days, at least on Sundays? A train Mum and I caught back in August 2004 from Preston to Blackpool North around 18:50 (after a Voyager from Oxford) had come from Scarborough.
I believe most of the Bristol to London Paddington services have been cleverly timed to leave at xx:25 and xx:55 to enable the longer dwells at Bath Spa.
No change to the X1 or X15 I see. I wish the X1 could go half hourly again and the X15 revert to being just Abingdon - Witney so it doesn't have to avoid Oxford!
