I can't see any other explanation - but as said, if maintenance staff would have been taken away from the 175's then that would make a huge amount of sense, sorry! That makes sense, sorry. Something new I've learnt so thank you for clearing that up!

To be fair they did have a choice - keep them going til enough 175's were ready and not have other services short formed as a result, different if a failure however!

I believe Blackpool to York did use to extend to / from Scarborough in Arriva Trans Northern days, at least on Sundays? A train Mum and I caught back in August 2004 from Preston to Blackpool North around 18:50 (after a Voyager from Oxford) had come from Scarborough.

No change to the X1 or X15 I see. I wish the X1 could go half hourly again and the X15 revert to being just Abingdon - Witney so it doesn't have to avoid Oxford!
