Grand Central train stopped due to fault near Welwyn

I didn’t imply that it was a SPAD indeed until just now. 1652549776

Grand Central train stopped due to fault near Welwyn

All going as expected then. If it is only a breakdown which is worrying but happens then all is good. I noted the second set.

Grand Central train stopped due to fault near Welwyn

Yes I often look out to see the signals changing when travelling by train. I’m not paranoid am just old fashioned and like looking out the window ! I don’t recall ever stopping 1/3 of the way through a signal.

Grand Central train stopped due to fault near Welwyn

I merely noted the situation as I was proceeding over the bridge and did not speculate as to the reasons why the train had stopped where it did.

Grand Central train stopped due to fault near Welwyn

Yet it is blocking the line and not moving. Normally the driver would stop before the red light unless there was a problem. At least it is only several coaches beyond the light as you say.

Why are people opposed to HS2? (And other HS2 discussion)

The upshot of the growth of passenger numbers is that we need HS2 even sooner than was anticipated. It baffles me why the capacity argument is so misunderstood as are many basics about the project.

Why are people opposed to HS2? (And other HS2 discussion)

Liverpool Manchester Leeds Sheffield Birmingham and Derby /Toton / Nottingham aren’t I the southeast though yet will be served by hs2 trains as will Scotland. I don’t understand this argument at all. The M6 and the M62 join to the m1 and a1(m) which connect to London. Yet people in the North...

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

Years ago my Mums sister was picking my Mum up at Lancaster. At Carlisle Mum asked and was told it did stop. She waved as the train raced through Lancaster Castle. And we went on a train from Green Ayre. Last summer i walked along the old route along the Lune.

Reminds me of John Cleese in Clockwise. All because he boarded the wrong train!

Why are people opposed to HS2? (And other HS2 discussion)

I have followed and supported HS2 all the way. The debate around hs2 reminded me of the AV debates and was in a way a precursor to the referendum debates. Those against hs2 like those against the EU made up a load of stories, myths and outright lies to make their case. The most vocal were...

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

Last year I went to Wembley Arena. I got the train from WGC to Kgc and walked through to STP and got on the 700 that rolled in that was allegedly stopping at West Hampstead. As there was a discrepancy with the announcements and the trains were delayed I got off again. Good thing as I would...

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

I have not been on the train much since the fiasco and have avoided going into London on the train at weekends as we have not had a train to come back on. I regularly read railforums but rarely comment as am usually haunting the Guardian ! I walk my dog through the woods and sometimes up to...

Arcing then. Can you advise me of the correct term for this i.e. Flashing when I guess there is a poor connection between the OLE and the Pan or the third rail and connector shoes. Happens quite often on the Underground too, usually over points. Also, I seem to remember a story a few years ago...

    Best Electric Loco Sound

I walk my dog on a lane parallel to the ECML most nights and sometimes afternoons as an excuse to latterly spot 387s. Sometimes I hear the trains before I see them. Apart from rare steam engines the most recognisable and exciting still after 40 years are our wonderful HSTs. The Class 91...

    High Speed Two (HS2) discussion

He is amember of the house of lords but he knows a lot more than this PR1 guy. Do you also object to all of the non elected vested interest lobby groups such as IEA and IOD when they voice their opinions against the project? I do not remember voting for any of them.Nor have I voted for the...

Surely the radical , rational and logical answer is to actually provide enough rail capacity for both freight and passengers
