I know i needed the PTS, and have some understanding of the roles, however its knowing how to get the PTS, is it something that can be paid for personally, as i thought you could only get one if you are sponsored?

dont know the specifics but a friend of mine got into it a few years back and is doing well for himself. coming from Petroleum Industry you would probably be snapped up due to the emphasis on Health and safety

what level of job are you going for, i doubt if you are a newcomer they will need you to be familiar with Railway specific Schematics. if you specifically want to look at railway Schematics, a good place to start is google and search for Traction motor schematics...
