But where are your parents coming from? Plenty of options near the main motorways from all parts, tell us and we can sort exactly where to stay.

Another vote to find a local hotel, no shortage of them, including at stops near Piccadilly line stations in the vicinity. Not worth the stress of a broken down coach or other delay. The Premier Inn app is good, as is Booking.com

That's exactly what they seem to be doing tonight, though whether this will happen for the rest of the week isn't clear, the journey planner hasn't been updated as yet.

I guess the hourly service is a fair effort under the circumstances but annoying all the same.

I was on that yesterday, the guard said that it would normally be 10. I was on the 0802 this morning, another new service, and that too was 5 coaches today. Whatever, the new faster services are welcome. Or, I suppose, the resupplied fast service, as there used to be a semi-fast until about 2000.
