Don’t think that should happen, voyagers can now cross feed electricity to more than one coach per set (if 2 engines shut down both will be supplied from other vehicles)
All XC voyagers are now fitted with IESS (start/stop) software. Certain stations engines are shut down but can be restarted by driver. Engines can also restart at later station by software.
As far as voyagers go, they idle at 994rpm, 1154 I think when in forward, 1200 ish when in power notch and 1796 at full power. No set positions between power notch and full.
The ASLEF Full Time Officer and the Drivers Company Council would like to thank the membership for their
continuing support.
The company have still not formally approached ASLEF to discuss the issues with an aim to resolve the dispute.
Extract from circular received 28/08
Some Voyagers are fitted with IESS, with the rest to be done. Intelligent Engine Shutdown System will shut an engine down if timetable can be maintained. This is a replacement for the DAS system which is being removed.
Using Lumo is like comparing apples to oranges, they only run single sets. It might be considering the distance some XC trains travel that the do not want the driver to stop the train after a passenger assistance but is pressed to go and deal with it, delays could soon add up not only for XC
Newcastle have recruited about 7 TM’s in the last six months or so, at various stages of training with first couple out working trains now but they have come from catering grade so that is having to recruit to fill vacancies with full times contracts being offered.
