While I am not familiar with the signalling and capacity etc. As a resident of Warrington, it is most annoying that the stopping patterns have been changed so that there are no stops between Warrington and London. Even the Birmingham train no longer stops at Stafford.

er, National Rail, actually buying the ticket and my partner's season ticket and the guard on the train. They are my sources!
Hot Tip: It's cheaper to buy a peak time ticket from Newton-le-Willows (£8 return) than from Warrington Bank Quay (£8.80) even though Warrington is nearer to Chester. A monthly season ticket is a whole £13 cheaper.
This madness is presumably because Newton-le-Willows is in the Merseytravel...
