Hey all,
Like many of the posters on here, i too think it was silly this individual wandering onto railway lines. But the question always remain, how do we prevent it from happening? Seems all the barrier protection and advertising in the world wont stop the inquizatives who decide that they...
I think many of us unionised guys know the reason for the break down in talks. Was curious to know how the network continued (albeit under a skeleton service). Am off today so may pop over to my local station and offer my support.
Driver managers running the tracks should be interesting...
Well it seems despite some pretty stern message being made by the staff at NXEA it seems a shame that talks have fallen down and once again there is no alternative than for the staff to 'reiterate' their concerns. I think the whys and woes have been pretty much summed up here.
Just one...
Just on the same token,
As most of these franchises have a lot of movement (ie a tendency to change hands every so often) How much does it cost to re-livery all their associated stock? Surely this would be a waste of funds knowing that the franchise may change hands at any point and the...
As from what been said in this thread, much of what happens within union based environments is spun out of context by the media.
From a differing perspective, I was a union negotiator, and over the last couple of years have won decent deals for the company i belong to. This year we ended up...
Hi guys,
I hear on the grapevine (NXEA website) that there might be some possible strike action by ASLEF and RMT over pay awards on the NXEA network.
Any truth to all this?
Well it might well be worth complaining, will get on to that, seems a bit silly that imposing such strict restrictions seem necessary, particularly as the previous restrictions seemed suitable enough. thx john.

Just received an email back from Atoc saying they will refund (by...
Peter,
Sadly there is no clause that has been broken, it was more the principle of it. When you buy a priviledge card (by that i mean something that offers a discount), you dont generally expect it to change a month or two into getting it. Whats annoying is that they get you to sign to say...
Hi All,
I havent managed to find a thread on this issue on here (unless someone could advise).
I noticed that the conditions on use for railcards have changed from May onwards.
I purchased a railcard back in March to make use of my increased use of the railways as a result of my move...
Hi all,
Just read this on NXEA website:
http://www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com/about_us/news/national_express_east_anglia_and_national_express_east_coast_information_for_customers
whose telling porkies? the government or NX?
Dont they do something similar at Peterborough with services to London KX with NXEC, the other being to London LivSt via NXEA being a service to Shenfield (being 2 stops back)?
Trouble is, how far does goodwill go before the TOC enforces compulsory sunday working?
Although i dont work for the railways this kind of action could result in changes in T & Cs? Personally I would rather work the rostered sunday as overtime than risk having the sunday rostered into the...
Thats fair point, i only mentioned it as a thought. Maybe the driver had activated the override and had returned to normal operation, but as both you and GB quite rightly said, if that was the case then the driver would be held for quite awhile with the signallers. and the the various paperwork. :)
Thanks GB, i didnt realise that TPWS activation would have to be reported to signaller.
Naturally assuming the OP being somewhere down the train might not be absolutely sure the train was to signal. But as you rightly say if it was the case of stop and go then that rules that out. :)
Hi guys,
Although i am not completely o'fay with the TPWS kit. Was just wondering if it was at all possible that the driver may well have forgotten to activate the TPWS override switch and as he approached at the light at danger the Train stop circuit kicked in. Am i right in saying that if...
Hi P'Lines
Am fairly new here as well, (and not one to post that often).
I was curious about this question myself as like you i too wanted to get into the railways through train driver program.
Now from what i gather, all ATOC have their own training program suited to the particular...
Hi 158 Man,
Am totally gutted about your job being taken away, I spoke to a manager at First GBRf (an area i am trying to get into) about a month ago and he said that First has issued a directive banning all recruitment until further notice, sounds like you had been caught up in this. Hope...
