Belfast to Rosslare (hypothetical) missed connection questions

Hi folks, I'm looking at making a journey from Belfast to Rosslare, which involves a 30 minute connection in Dublin onto the last train of the day to Rosslare. Questions: Can I buy a single ticket that covers the entire journey, or will I need to buy two tickets - one from Translink and one...

TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

The seats themselves appear to be a normal width. However.... There is no armrest and no gap whatsoever between the two seats making up each pair. There is no armrest and no gap whatsoever between the window seat and the panelling. We're only talking inches, but these inches do make quite a...

TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

I had my much-anticipated first ride on them today. They look great, sound quiet, seem to accelerate well and are well fitted out inside. The big windows will be great for those who like to enjoy the scenery. The narrow body does mean the seats are wedged in together, which could be...

    NW/Baltic Interrail Trip

I recently had this issue, so I bought a ticket for that leg. I then checked again on the day, and passholder reservations were now available. I therefore moved my ticket to sometime in the future (so I can have a trip to Belgium for just the cost of a single ticket) and bought a passholder...

    NW/Baltic Interrail Trip

What a shame. It looks to have been very sudden.

    NW/Baltic Interrail Trip

Hi there. I'm currently on my way back from a 2-and-a-bit week trip to Scandinavia. Some quick thoughts: I haven't been to Miniatur Wunderland, so I can't say this with any authority, but there's something somewhat similar in Rotterdam that might be worth checking out. Both my Hamburg to...

    Named Trains in the UK

I catch the westbound Red Dragon quite frequently and it does get announced at Bristol Parkway, which is where I board. However, it's always a 5 car train and so the Red Sardine might be a more appropriate name.

    Luggage storage in London

There's a Premier Inn right by Kings Cross that I've used multiple times for luggage storage through Stasher. Might cost more than the "dodgy" places, but possibly less than the place in the station?

TfW On-train first class upgrade cost

brfares is excellent for this sort of query. Cardiff to Crewe appears to be £21 in the week and £11 at the weekend. You may well be able to beat the weekday price using Seatfrog. Note that food needs to paid for on top of the fare and the upgrade...

    Intercity Milan to Ventimiglia

I travelled on this route last month and there was one reversal at Genoa. Therefore, those on the right hand side of the train leaving Milan were on the coastal/left side from Genoa onwards. I couldn't say whether or not this was the usual route. The coastal scenery is lovely, and in my...

    Calmac / Northlink Ferry discussion

I'm not sure. The Ships of CalMac website just says "these are no longer available for passengers", but it must be getting on for 30 years since they were used by passengers.

    Calmac / Northlink Ferry discussion

When Lord of the Isles did this route in the 90s, she had passenger cabins.

    Glasgow Central to/from Rothesay

There's no need to book in advance, as you can buy the tickets on the day. I'd definitely go if the weather is cold and clear, as the views from the ferries will be great. I'd be out on the top deck the whole time, but you can always go inside and look out of the windows if it's too cold...

I would suggest anyone giving advice reads up on the OP's previous case here: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/notice-of-intention-to-prosecute-gtr.276394/

London to Aberystwyth - where can I change?

If planning to change at International, keep an eye on the inbound working of the TfW train. If it's running very late, they may turn it round at New Street instead of International.

Termini that are really just like wayside halts

It's never quiet when I travel on it! Usually very busy between Temple Meads and Clifton Down. Wrexham would be a good example if you just consider the line to Bidston, with General being the main station and Central the quiet terminus.

Manchester to Exeter - route experiences

Also on platform 4. And aren't they the east (i.e. London/Bristol) end of platform 2, or have they moved?
