    LNER Simpler Fares

Hi. I have tried to find the existing thread but failed. What is the current workaround to avoid the stupid LNER Simpler Rip Off to Newcastle. I am heading up this weekend and shock horror am not completely sure which day/time I will be heading back next week and so would dearly love an off peak...

    Through Ticket - LNER

Well he has arrived in Brighouse, many hours late but there you go, thanks for all the responses. For my own purposes if I book a journey on for instance Trainline and accept the split ticket option or it splits it into two tickets for another reason, is that a single journey for Delay Repay...

    Through Ticket - LNER

Thanks all. I will be glad when the ‘It really isn’t anything to do with LNER’ attitude is dropped. It really should be, you are delayed well beyond your control on one leg, you are helped out on the other, open access or not. Yes I remember going down a rabbit hole on here about the cross...

    Through Ticket - LNER

Hi, I would appreciate a little advice. A friend has a single booking from Worthing to Brighouse, by two tickets (Worthing to London, London to Brighouse on Grand Central). He has been delayed into London due to a fatality on the line from Worthing. LNER are telling him he has to wait for the...

    Avanti catering

Hi. I am trying to work out which Avanti services have breakfast before booking - is there a way to find which menu is served on which service? I am struggling to find that info. I am looking at the 9.30am Euston to Glasgow.

    Avanti Lake District to London

To say the least. I now know what those on here mean who made been saying Avanti can’t run services beyond Preston to Scotland and vice versa. It seems to be a complete mess and they don’t seem capable of acknowledging how not good enough that is.

    Avanti Lake District to London

So they have terminated an 11 car London direct train at Preston and shoved everybody on to a 9 car via Birmingham service. Why on earth would you do that. Surely you terminate the Birmingham service and run the London service, but call additionally at Stafford. Needless to say we are leaving...

    Avanti Lake District to London

11.29, 13.12 and 14.26 from Oxenholme to London all showing as cancelled on National Rail.

    Avanti Lake District to London

I don’t think so because these are all services that were scheduled to run.

    Avanti Lake District to London

Anybody any idea why Avanti are cancelling so many of the Glasgow to London services today. It is nuts. Absolutely disastrous weekend for Avanti and they don’t seem to give a toss about keeping passengers informed (no warning on their website) or trying to pull their finger out to run a proper...

My train just sailed through East Croydon!

I am very surprised a driver has forgotten to stop at East Croydon. The only service that doesn’t stop is the Gatwick Express. It went through at speed as well. Perhaps he did think he was driving the Gatwick Express. Plenty of annoyed passengers. Can’t be a common occurrence surely.

My train just sailed through East Croydon!

Apparently it was due to a ‘technical error’!

My train just sailed through East Croydon!

I am on the Worthing to London Victoria train and it just sailed through East Croydon! It was the 12.00 from West Worthing. That has never happened to me before. How could that happen? Are the signals not set to stop that?

    Combining off peak tickets

Okay, thanks for the advice. Bugger! New ticket then. 1761208605 On a side note, two passengers across from me had tickets for the TPE immediately behind us that has been cancelled and the guard took great glee in telling them there is no ticket acceptance in place so they would need to leave...

    Combining off peak tickets

Oh. Okay. I didn’t realise that. I thought as long as you had valid off peak fares it is okay, whereas with advance it is not. My ticket are actually Warrington to Crewe and Alsager to London. Does that make any difference?

    Combining off peak tickets

Hi, I would appreciate some advice on a ticketing combo. I am travelling back from Carlisle this afternoon and I have 3 off peak tickets. Carlisle to Warrington, Warrington to Crewe and Crewe to London. I am okay to catch a direct train that does not stop at Crewe? As a side point, the...

Discussion About the Use of Lay Prosecutors in Court

It is utterly mind blowing that the whole rail industry in its entirety has failed at any point in recent years to sit down and ask, is the way we are screening and prosecuting cases actually legal. The risks are clearly much higher in a fragmented industry for a whole bunch of very obvious...

    Use of lay prosecutors

I understand an issue has arisen with the industry accused of using lay prosecutors to represent the relevant company in court to utilise its prosecuting powers. As far as I am aware the rules around the qualifications required to utilise statutory powers of prosecution in court are clear and...
