Thank you both for your replies. I am able to take the stairs, thanks, so I'll exit between D and E. I'm in at 13.58 and due out on the Thameslink to Cambridge at 14.02, so it sounds promising.
I'm arriving at Platform 2 at Stevenage and have only 4 minutes to cross to Platform 4.
My arrival is on a 9-coach LNER Azuma from York. Which would be the best coach to ensure I exit near the stairs for the crossover bridge, please? 81 years old, with only a backpack.
TIA
If I use contactless from St Pancras to Gatwick during off-peak, what would the fare be, please? I've checked it on ltfares.com and it mentions a fare of £10.10 for the "Default route", but I have no idea what that means.
Thanks.
Thanks. Mobility is not an issue, but as jon0844 says, I'm trying to get ahead of the game if the King's Cross service is running a minute or two down.

Thanks. That's my concern, so the closer to the stairs the better!
I'll be arriving at platform 2 on a 5 coach, southbound LNER Azuma and have to make a pretty speedy (4 minute) transfer to platform 4 for the Thameslink service to Cambridge.
Which coach on the Azuma will stop closest to the staircase on platform 2 please?
TIA
I bought a return ticket using Trainsplit and the particular journey required paper tickets. I used the outbound tix, but then accidentally threw away the return tix too. I'm due to make my return journey tomorrow starting st Stansted Aiport. Will the ticket office there be abe to reprint my...
Thank you Giigiaro. I'll have to keep an eye out for this one in future and will make sure that I have my camera handy next time. Congratulations on the excellent paint jobs. That stock that I saw and the 2600 are amazing.
I cannot remember Gag. I just recall immediately thinking that it looked like traditional Intercity stock, so yes, I'm pretty sure that it had ribbed sides.
I notice that Giugiaro has not been online since I started the thread. Hopefully he will pick this up soon and put my mind at rest!
Those Corail photos show what to me is the old style Intercity stock that I have been riding for years. This appeared to be straight from the paint shop, and the First Class flashes were the identical purple/lilac colour shown in the Corail photos. Also, the interior appeared to have new style...
Thanks Gag. Those brief images of the completed units seem very similar. One exception being the Conforto car had the traditional purple flash at the end of the unit that I saw.. I'm interested to know more, so I hope that @Giugiaro picks up the thread.
Thanks again.
At around 07.45 this morning, I saw what appeared to be a refurbished Intercity train travelling north at Coimbra-B. I wasn't even aware that there was an IC departure due, hence my hesitation.
Are CP finally getting around to upgrading the ICs? They certainly made a good job of the Alfas, so...
I will be travelling from Heathrow to Farringdon on the Elizabeth Line and changing there to a Thameslink service to Peterborough. Which is the best part of the train to board at Heathrow to best place us for the transfer at Farringdon please?
Hello to you all and many thanks for your detailed responses which have enabled me to make a decision on our routing. Unfortunately we do not stop at SVG so will have to make the change at KGX and we have decided to cross over to STP and take the servive to ZFD and change onto the Elizabeoth...
