Varying quality of WiFi across Scotrail’s train fleets

The 222s are getting Starlink fitted and will also have WiFi calling capability as part of the WiFi package.

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

unless the door interlock light doubles as the door close button, I didn't think there was. Obviously entirely possible Lumo have chucked a pile of cash at Alstom to add the required wiring and hardware to allow the driver to close the doors. Will be interesting to see where they have positioned...

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

There is no door close buttons for the driver on a 222. Driver can only open doors on a 222 or hand control over to a guard/train manager for them to open doors.

    Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

This is the way it should be happening at all depots. Management are just being fly not paying the trainees for coming out on the Sunday. The agreement in place is they must be paid and not given a day off in lieu during the week. 1777074498 Indeed, but they want it done on the cheap...

    Strathclyde manning agreement

It will show on the driver diagrams any crew changes and where. I'd imagine the driver would if they had the opportunity to look for the TE on the platform as they arrive. Failing that a quick PA announcement asking TE to contact the driver. No response then inform control and make an informed...

    Strathclyde manning agreement

ScotRail got nothing from Aslef in this change apart from an increased salary bill. It was a long and determined campaign from Aslef that got the change. RMT reluctantly got onboard with it. Not sure why they weren't keen on their members increasing and effectively gaining the same powers as a...

    Strathclyde manning agreement

TEs regularly change over at intermediate stations on the North Clyde line. On the Ayrshire and Inverclyde lines TEs only change at terminus stations. Not sure on numbers cancelled or how regularly, but it is not as regular as it once was. ScotRail recruited almost 140 additional TEs to ensure...

    Strathclyde manning agreement

The Strathclyde Manning Agreement was updated in Dec 2024 and the new arrangements came into effect in Jan 2025. All "Strathclyde" electric services MUST have a 2nd person onboard. This changes the previous original version which stated a 2nd must be rostered for the service. If the Ticket...

Currently only the disabled access toilets next to Costa are available. Normal toilets will be available again on Wednesday.

    Fire at Glasgow Central (08/03/26)

When Lanark or Edinburgh bound ScotRail Trains are using p1 or p2, they most definitely do direct passengers through the gateline at 3/4 and round to p1/p2. They simply barrier off p1/2 from the concourse, open the double access gate next to the buffers and passengers walk behind the Starbucks...

222 contract for Scotrail: updates (not speculation)

Expect a full timetable change for the intercity services once the 222s are here. Expectation is that the better reliability/availability of them will allow 170/158s to be utilised on more local/stopping services on the intercity routes which should hopefully alleviate the overcrowding on some...

222 contract for Scotrail: updates (not speculation)

You have to use the selective door opening or you can't open the doors on a 222. The driver has to select the number of coaches to open every time they open the doors or hand over control to the guard to open. Some platforms on the routes only hold 4 coaches so unless they get extended or 222s...

222 contract for Scotrail: updates (not speculation)

The driving cabs are very spacious with the seat pretty much in the middle. The seats are comparable to the 380/385 driver seats. 1773934432 The full ScotRail driver's Aslef Company Council along with the Conductor's RMT Company Council and various managers went to EMR at Derby last September...

ScotRail already have some of the Inverness based 158s fitted with Starlink.

222 contract for Scotrail: updates (not speculation)

Haymarket will have plenty of room for 222s once the HSTs go. Given the 222 is originally a Bombardier product I wouldn't envisage Haymarket having any problems given that it's the principal 170 maintenance depot.

222 contract for Scotrail: updates (not speculation)

No. They are fitting new seats throughout. The ScotRail press release gives full details on the refurbishment.
