Is Crewe Signalling Centre still a thing. I recall it was described as temporary when it opened in 1985 and last time I looked it was still there - the red shed with a white stripe on it - described as looking like a signal when it first appeared.

Between Cully and Pully in Switerland some years ago I remember seeing a train relaying track on one side of a double line while the other line remained open to traffic. At least I think that is what it was doing.

I think Carnforth may have had one in the past. I seem to recall hearing in in Brief Encounter.

If the station could be moved to the other side of the street the level crossing could be obviated.

But previously it used to follow the Scotswood Road from Blaydon and avoid the King Edward Bridge.

No doubt cheaper than the old ones and possibly just as durable but definitely less aesthetic.
