    Virgin Job Application Process

What depot did you apply for ? I do know there was a recruitment event at the end of April for North West region, as my gf attended, then had another interview in May, and starts 23rd June. This is for Man Picc. She waited roughly about 5-6 weeks after applying before hearing about the...

    Virgin trains job talent pool!!

My gf had the same email, and is also in talent pool. It all goes off what position you are in the talent pool, what depot you are waiting on, and when a vacancy arises. There is no fixed time limit really. Could be this month, could be 6 months or longer. What depot are you waiting for ?

Hi, she also is still in the talent pool. My friend is a manager over the CSA's at Man Picc, but he doesn't really have much to do with HR, but he said time frames can vary, those at the top of the list get selected first and then they work down the list, so when a position becomes available, it...

    FTPE Qualified Driver advice.

Sorry, but I don't think me or the other poster was trying to make anyone look like a fool. Myself and the other poster have made moves, me to TPE, and there seems to be this myth that TPE seem to be above themselves, and make drivers jump through hoops again, for a job they already do. I don't...

    FTPE Qualified Driver advice.

I was asked about 10 rules questions in my DM interview, nothing on paper, I didn't have to do no group exercise either when moving to TPE. Each TOC sets it's own recruitment procedure, and TPE have their sto cut down the number of applicants, just like Virgin or XC have theirs. When I moved...

    FTPE Qualified Driver advice.

Yes they do, you have to sit a small rules exam, and do a group discussion with Virgin, I know this first hand as my mate just got accepted by them. The tests are used to cut down the number of applicants. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- The tests are nothing bad, you do a...

    TPE trainee drivers

There is not 10 places available at 1 individual depot, that must be across all depots. Most depots only had 1 spot available, maybe 2 at Picc, 1 for link 3 and 1 for link 2, but they have just advertised for qualified drivers for some depots too, Picc included, so some link positions could be...

She said it wasn't so much a interview, is was more a general chat, asking about yourself, what you currently do etc. She said she felt very much at ease, like she was chatting to a mate over a coffee

As far as I am aware, only four candidates are being selected for each depot that advertised a vacancy, as there is only one position in each depot, possibly 2 at Man Picc. There is no saying one of those four will be selected, you have to impress and give a good interview.

Virgin Trains North West Road Show

Yes, its based at Man Picc, she had to work in team, going out on the train chatting to customers, then when she got back, the team had to give a presentation on what they though made a good CSA, then she had a mini interview with a local manager.

Virgin Trains North West Road Show

My girlfriend found out on the 7th she was successful, has been put in a talent pool, and is just waiting on a position to arise for a start date.

    First TPE HR email address

They don't make you take all the tests again, the tests you do are pretty simple and is used to cut down the applicants who apply. I was in there a hour tops, when I did mine. As for European driving license, these are only issued, well at TPE anyway to new drivers, current drivers don't have to...

    Virgin Trains - Awaiting Reply

Virgin do seem to take quite a long time to get back to everyone. It took them 5 weeks before my girlfriend had a email inviting her to a Recruitment Road show in Crewe, she applied in March for Manchester and was invited down mid April. It seems though once the ball is rolling they do speed...

Request for information - TPE Drivers Manchester

Hi, I am a driver for TPE. There is no drivers depot at the Airport, it is guards only. If you was to join at Man Picc, you will usually go into link 3 which consists of, Liverpool, York, Scarborough and Manchester Airport. If you go into link 2 due to no space in Link 3, instead of...

Virgin Trains North West Road Show

Hi, how did your day go with this ? My gf attended this also, also her sister, her sister had a email saying she is unsuccessful, but my gf has not heard anything as yet, just a email asking for feedback about the event

    New Driver Assessments - Beware

Exactly, it may seem unfair, but this is how it works, and I don't think it would change anytime soon, because they know they will always get a high number of applicants.

    TPE trainee drivers

No I think there is a overall pass mark, like a standard, but TPE require a higher % pass. Say official pass mark is 82%, and you get 85%, you have passed, but TPE may require 89%. But Northern might only want 85% so you are free to apply with them, or any other TOC whose pass mark you reach...

    New Driver Assessments - Beware

Why are external candidates more of a risk ? Sorry but they have as much knowledge of driving a train, as a guard does. I was a guard at FNW, I went into the driving grade and in my class I was with people off the railway, when it come to learning driving a train, apart from a few things, I...
