Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Hertford North has acquired RA2/RA3 signage in conjunction with the new lift - but only the ones that are new or needed changing as a result, so looks a bit of a mess - the rest is still FCC style, with the odd bit of GN thrown in.

BA now operate the afternoon Madrid widebody rotation instead of Iberia. (BA460/461)

ECML Over running engineering work (19 January)

Issue with the tamper - line wasn't tamped. Therefore not handed back for traffic.

    LNER Stevenage Pickup/Setdown

Presumably the actual reason for the pick up and set down only stops, which I don't think anyone seems to have picked up on yet, is that Stevenage becomes part of project Oval at the timetable change meaning contactless becomes available and I guess LNER are not set up for checking contactless...

Alex Hynes new CEO of DfT Operator

Alex's role doesn't exist in DfT in any case after 1 April when the majority of the DfT civil servants in the rail team transfer to DFTO and hence, will now continue to work for Alex.

Got caught with the wrong railcard!

Is it only me left wondering why someone who lives in South Bermondsey is walking to, and getting a train from, London Bridge to Clapham Junction, and paying a higher fare than simply walking to Queens Road Peckham and getting a quicker and more frequent overground line train... (which I...

    Douro Valley Loco-Hauled Diagrams

Essentially everything that is "IR" is planned to be hauled except IR867 and IR874 which are used to swap the units on the locals over. R4200 is also hauled being the return working of an IR into Pochino, which then works one of the two IRs to Porto that start at Regua the next morning...

    Southern keyGo error 89

Launched in summer 2014 I believe on Southern. Mine was one of the first, initially issued for testing, and expires in October. I expect there are some that have already expired. It'll be one of the oldest cards regularly used on the Great Northern bit of the network.

    KeyGo ending short question

Note though, that if A - B is significantly cheaper than A - C such that single from C - B plus return A - B is cheaper overall you will need to tap out and tap back in at B on the return, to stop KeyGo charging an A - C return fare. (There are certain fares to Finsbury Park where this applies...

Govia Thameslink Railway - Notice of intention to prosecute -HELP

Given that most, if not all, trains to Waterbeach do not stop at Finsbury Park and are fast Kings Cross to at least Letchworth then we need to know journey details and tickets actually held/purchased. If a valid ticket to Finsbury Park was already held, and then the subsequent ticket was from...

    Stevenage for nearly an hour

That Wetherspoon has now closed as part of the town centre redevelopment. McDonalds is probably the closest "coffee" with seating (and you can keep an eye on the trains across the car park too!). Using the lifts from the platform allows you to avoid the gateline, if exiting the station through...

    LNER potential anomaly

If anyone from LNER is listening... Interesting one on my train the other day. Colchester to Leeds Super Off Peak single (no returns as this is LNER)... there is an any permitted routing, via London, which carries restriction 9D and therefore puts restrictions on travel via London Terminals...

Lord Hendy appointed as Minister at DfT

Interesting appointment announced this morning. Lord Peter Hendy (now former?!) Network Rail chairman appointed as Minister of State at DfT. I expect he will will get the Rail brief. https://www.gov.uk/government/people/lord-hendy-of-richmond-hill

    Loco haulage around Hamburg?

RE1 to Buchen/Schwerin/Rostock also hauled RE8 (Lubeck) no longer hauled, though RB80 and RB81 which are the local shorts on the same route are. RE5 is no longer Metronom, though does used the same diesel locos and stock in Metronom colours. If you play around in Bahn.Expert (and change the...

Changing from TL to EL at Farringdon - tap..?

Finsbury Park is often temperamental, but at the moment KeyGo seems to working fine on all the standalone readers in the subway that I have tried recently... even so, when the ones near platform 1 and 2 and the southbound underground lines are playing up, the one at the other end by the...

    Restriction code 9I

Notwithstanding whether or not it is technically valid due to a valid itinerary being produced, but is code 9I being applied correctly by journey planners? On a journey from Sandy travelling northbound, on a Tuesday, destination Manchester via Leeds (or York depending which journey planner you...

    KeyGo at Farringdon

Yes, the tap data from the LNER gateline is, once again, not making it's way to the GTR back office for whatever reason.

    KeyGo at Farringdon

Yes. Finsbury Park has gone rogue again. Reader 82 in the subway (by the northbound Victoria Line/Piccadilly Line stairs) recognises KeyGo - the others appear not to! Kings Cross LNER gatelines have also gone rogue again in that the gateline will let you in or out, but the taps aren't getting...

    Amending keyGo activity

Presumably using standalone readers when transferring to/from Underground? The readers at the entrance to the spiral stairs down to the underground appear to be fine on every occasion I have used them - the ones at the bottom of the platform 1 and 2 stairs less so (and always have been...
