    my local Aldi distribution centre is less than 500 metres from a rail line.... hundreds of lorry movements everyday. I understand the high cost of infrastructure and difficulty with paths and concern re security of supply but just wondered if more railheads could be or should be encouraged ?

    IMO a parkway station by the business park could service the business park commuters albeit not very close, but could serve day trippers into town and long distance travellers to London etc. Obvs. Need trains and shed load of cash but you get the idea....

    A bit off topic but a more preferable parkway station for Chester could be on the Wrexham line as close as possible to the business park. That said, the A41 into Chester must be a nightmare for regular travellers as you approach teletubby roundabout so maybe Waverton might have possibilities.

    Interesting discussion relating to shotton chord ... I always assumed a chord heading from west Wirral towards Chester would be the most useful .. considering the A540 west Wirral road to Chester is painfully slow and very busy. And whilst we are talking west Wirral ... how hard would it be...
