Should physical barriers be installed to prevent access to platforms shortly before trains depart?

You can't put a barrier up on Pt1 it's too narrow and with too many access points.

GWR two passengers left behind at Paddington

I once refused a wheelchair who turned up just as I started (self) dispatch (different station obvs), I wasn't even halfway through (like the TM) was on the video. Anyone who has dispatched from platform 1 at Padd knows what it's like, as others have said, we don't know what was said, but you...

    True but no.

    Class 175s to GWR

But it's not is it, millions of miles are covered by modern trains without issues, including the 175s when with TfW. Modern systems can diagnose a faut and it can be rectified remotely, saving a train been taken out of service and a journey cancelled or if cancelled the depot knows exactly what...

    Class 175s to GWR

Not helped by XC cancelling services and others being late, pax then get the next fastest to X, which will be the next IET.

    Driver > guard communication

Easily done on the older FX units, if you hit PA by mistake then initiate a cab to cab (or other way round), I remember discussing with the driver about a sheep we rolled and I saw it in the 4 foot from the back cab, fortunately it was late and only a couple of people on the train

    Class 175s to GWR

I had my my face firmly mashed into the air vent the other evening, I had to check the blue button was on ..... If I remember right Some 150s don't have aircon in the back cab yet.

Different Guard Depot, Route and Traction cards

GWR Exeter updates Exeter (Conductors - GWR): Bristol Temple Meads to Bristol Parkway (Link dependant) Exeter to Bristol Temple Meads via Weston-Super-Mare & Weston Avoider (Link dependant) Exeter to Pinhoe - with the exception of any long standing (Wessex) Conductors, no west conductor signs...

    Class 175s to GWR

No money for lengthening the platforms and you can't run semi fast trains otherwise some stops would potentially not get a service for hours. Until the DfT put thier hands in the pockets it's going to be a bit of a dog dinner.

Different Guard Depot, Route and Traction cards

So far it's been mainly (if not just) Peer trainers (TMs & Conductors) so far.

South Devon Railway VS Dartmouth Steam Railway

For me the SDR, there is more to do at Buckfastliegh, as well as the railway stuff you could go to the Abbey, even if religion isn't your bag it's a lovely place. As well as a walk into Totnes at the other end if you have a few hours to spare. The DSR is a pretty journey once you get past...

London Bridge : Train hit buffers 13/12/24

As mentioned up thread, more than once I have declared myself unfit to work a train (as a Guard) due to fatigue (I also hold a Class 2 HGV licence so I know about DVLA drivers hours and the individuals responsibilities). But there certainly is a culture in the railway that one should grasp with...

London Bridge : Train hit buffers 13/12/24

We (Guards) in our depot have backwards rotations in our diagrams. Twice this year I have phoned resources in the early hours of the morning after 3 hours sleep and told them I am too fatigued to work that day. I don't do any RDW and only my booked Sundays.

GwR HSTs to be stood down

It never fails to amuse me that some enthusiasts feel that the railways should absolutely revolve around their hobby as opposed to providing a service to the paying public. The good people of Newquay deserve a service if it means spoiling a photographic opportunity for an absolute vast...

    GWR on-board information anomaly

The 158 in question has been like that for a while, I am fairly certain I have rebooted all three fx units in the train and reported it at least once.....

    Class 175s to GWR

They are changing the stop boards on the Paignton - Exmouth for the 175s I doubt it. Anyway, while they may end up running the odd unit on the PGN-EXM due to an inevitable broken 150, like the158s they are not suitable due to the end door configuration.
