I'm planning to get at Super Off-Peak Tamworth - London Return (LM Only) on Saturday. Coming back, the last train is at 1846, and there's a chance I won't make it. If I do miss it and have to get a VT train back, can I excess the return portion to an Off-Peak? What are the chances of the staff...
Leeds this evening was an excellent example of poor comms. The 2011 XC to Bristol was showing as delayed to 2137 but with no platform. Shortly after it was canceled. Some investigation on a certain online resource showed that it had been diverted to run non-stop between York and Sheffield.

It can be done on train specific advance tickets from Grantham for just over £50. There are quite a few at £26 each way, going via Paddington.
E.g. 15/02/10 Dep Grantham 1314 Arr Exeter 1734
17/02/10 Dep Exeter 1800 Arr Grantham 2238
which gives you 2 days in Exeter.
