GTR will be cutting it's service from Monday,
I do know that the London Victoria to Portsmouth/Southampton 1C/1J services will not divide at Horsham and will become the Bognor Regis service 1B.
Horsham to Peterborough from 08.55 will be 1 an hour at xx25 past the hour.
There is a lot of cuts...
Southern allow 4 minutes to attach/split a train and have it on it's way. You usually find that if you have a good driver on the front and once he has been told he can put his key back on you can get the train out in about 3 1/2 minutes. Sometimes the conductors will help you by doing the cab...
A few times during the winter months i have had a phone call from our control saying that the horn on a certain train is not working and could we help the driver sort out the problem.
This will then involve asking the signaller to bring the train into the loop platform and advising him that we...
Had a young person (18ish) very distraught walk off the end of the platform where i work yesterday afternoon. I managed to get a line block and the power off before they could do any harm to them self. The staff on the other platform managed to get the person to come back onto the platform where...
OK. so you would get the sack, what about the people who work in control for the TOC's. As i said in one of my posts on page 1 that NR set a timed target to have all trains running RTR. So what would happen to these people if they just turned around and said Bo!!!!ks i will get the trains back...
Trouble is whatever Southern (and all TOC's) do they are always going to upset someone.
After disruption train company's need to get the services back to normal ASAP, they are given times by NR to have all trains running no later than, for example as in 60 mins after disruption is over no train...
The train dispatch assessment is listening to a cd and then answering a question on what you heard. This test basically shows that you can multitask as in your case would be listening to the customer whilst you are on the computer sorting out their tickets/queries and listening to the tanoy for...
At the end of the day it all boils down to allocating crew to work the service and keeping Horsham and Dorkings berthing unchanged if possible, however Horsham would have space to berth an extra service if Southerns train/crew planners could get the service back to Dorking in the morning.
i think there is no reason why it could not be done. whether it would be a viable option in the amount of people that would use the service is most probably the reason behind it, The last one down usually has no more than 10 passengers on it by the time it arrives at Horsham.
Also another...
The train that should be berthed at Dorking currently berths at Horsham in the evenings in the down sidings north and departs in the morning as 5E07 @ 06.39 to start service at Dorking @ 06.57
I think a lot of people fail the conductors interview on the question "What does a conductor Do". I know the TOC that i work for are looking for you to answer "Safety" as in the train, passengers etc before you even think about dispatching duties, selling tickets and customer enquiries.
Indeed you are correct. They started trialing one at the beginning of March to help not only passengers but the conductor and platform staff to locate the wheelchair access space easier. Although it's the middle coach the amount of times you go to the wrong door first. As i do not work with...
If First or any of the other bidders win the Southern franchise will still run till 2015.
When the new company takes over i cannot see why you would have to change your ticket. Anyway your train will still be in southern colours as they wont be able to repaint them that quick
Due to an operating incident on the coast today the rear portion of the 15.20 Bognor/Southampton to Victoria was running 28 mins late. What we ended up doing was pinching the 15.30 Horsham - London Bridge service and attaching it to the Bognor portion for a RTD (well almost) and then used the...
Just to add to the above is also what time of day this happened as most of the time the trains will come back down and split but on the build up to the evening peak they will run back down as 12 car formations but not splitting at Haywards Heath and going complete to LA or Eastbourne.
On very...
