Edinburgh Trams Part Closure (Summer 2026)

None, the fire occured overnight when all the trams were at the depot. No trams stable overnight in Leith as there isn't any secure place to stable them they all go to Gogar.

Are the recent derailments indicative of poor performance from Network Rail?

I think any position of avoid railways in heatwaves is an overreaction. Even if both of the notable derailments this week are due to heat (which is something we do not know at this point) railways are no doubt still safer than driving (which is most people’s alternative). The events this week...

    McGill’s Midland Bluebird

The public communication about it has been verry poor. The website for it (https://www.brightbustours.com/brightbus-airport-express/) is still up with no mention about it ending. The only hint on the website is that when you go to try and buy tickets it says no more trips today.

Alstom Polmadie Open Day - 12th October (was 21 Sep)

150 extra tickets went on saleon the branch line society website this evening and (from what I can see) at the moment there still looks to be some available.

You can just manually add the trip into the app, it doesn't have to display in the jounrey search for the interail pass to be valid.

Railway 200: Greatest Gathering Derby tickets and exhibits

Some (if not most) cancellations seem to be for a few reasons (unrelated to each other and not to do with the greatest gathering). The Britianic Explorer cancellations are due to the issues with the refurbished coaches for it that have been shared elsewhere The SRPS Railtours later in August...

Railway 200: Greatest Gathering Derby tickets and exhibits

The terms and conditions of the event (visible here) say 20L backpacks not A4, so that is what they will have to follow.

    Ember: Electric coach service

The planning application for it was also approved in May. This link should take you to it: https://planning.westlothian.gov.uk/publicaccess/caseDetails.do?caseType=Application&keyVal=SH0NNWRJK7S00 or search application 0551/FUL/24 in the west lothian planning portal

    Edinburgh Tram developments

It won't be that one as according the to the british trams online fleet list the capital radio tram in that news article is 262 not 269. Also from British trams online 269 was in use in march so whatever has has stopped it has occured in the last couple of months.

    Edinburgh Tram developments

Based on this page of edinburgh trams website: https://edinburghtrams.com/scottish-national-entitlement-card It seems that it generally is true with one exception that does not apply to the vast majority of NEC holders.

    ScotRail "Request to Stop" Ad

Isn't Loch Eil Outward bound a tocken exchange point for the RETB signalling system hence train may have to stop there anyway?

Standard 9F no. 92219 off to the Highlands

As shown in the image below there are some examples of raised check rails visible in the points and crossing at the western end of Edinburgh Waverley Station. When you see them from a train they are clearly significantly taller than the rail head so you can understand why you wouldn't want...

    Locomotion's New Hall

It is running behind schedule. The best places I have seen for updates are the twitter/X account (https://twitter.com/LocomotionNH) and the facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100091972330903) for the project.

    Rosyth Dockyard Traffic?

Based on this news article I belive it was not the branch to rosyth that was filled in but the older (and dissued for many more years) branch to north queensferry. I think its the one that I have highlighted in this image from the national libraries of scotland georeferenced maps, but I am not...

Remaining Northern Line Bank upgrades following major blockade

From what I have seen (from the likes of the IainVisits Article Here) is that trains are not yet able to run through in normal service. They ran a couple of test trains over the easter weekend when significant parts of line were closed. From what i have seen it doesn't look like the singinalling...

Flood Damage Near Polmont - 12/08/2020

There is a video on twitter here that shows the state of the railway. The track has been undermined with the ballast and soil beneth washed out., there is damage to the sides of the cutting as well as the damage to the OLE masts mentioned above. It does not look to be a quick and easy job.

Scotrail paper timetables not being printed during Covid 19

If you look at scotrails website they have not published PDF timetables either at the moment. Given that the timetable is being tweaked and changed due to the pandemic this isn't really a big suprise. There is no point sharing a timetable that is not being used, it can only cause confusion.

New homes for ex-Caledonian Sleeper Mark 2 and 3 stock

As far as I am aware transport scotland rejected it as the subisidy it would need was too expensive (See Here).
