Could all trains be cancellation of all services above a certain temperature threshold?

Which would be beyond ridiculous as continental Europe deals just fine on the whole with these kind of temperatures in the summer and sub-zero temperatures in the winter. Just requires some quick and proper adaptation from Network Rail if indeed the weather is to blame.

    Kettering South Jn Setback(?) Signals

I'm curious if anyone knows what purpose these signals served on the up slow at Kettering North Jn before resignalling during electrification works. There were three at regular intervals and plated as 'X1' 'X2' 'X3' from what I can make out. I've seen suggestions that they were used for freight...

Report of collision Bedford (Elstow) - 19/06/26

The signal for Bedford South Jn would be at red until the train is around the area of the overbridge north of this signal. As mentioned in my post, it then steps up to the least restrictive aspect at an unusually short distance from the signal, 2 or 3 car lengths from my estimation. There are no...

Report of collision Bedford (Elstow) - 19/06/26

For me, one of the key factors is that the signal controlling passage over Bedford South Jn does not step up to the least restrictive aspect until really quite late. Not the AWS ramp like most of these setups but only 2 or 3 car lengths. From memory, I believe this is because there is another...

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

What proportion of services on average is the new stock at the moment? Just wondering what my chances are of catching the old stock. Thanks.

LNER - Losses and subsidy increase despite increase in passenger numbers

All this talk of these units being expensive yet the passenger has to put up with bargain basement seats. Sums up everything wrong with the system.

Catering on Trains - A Healthy Approach?

Agree with the OP. The quality of ingredients on trains has plummeted. I just don't bother anymore unless it's GWR pullman or TfW loco hauled. Everything else really is bargain basement stuff. I'm pleased peoples' eyes are being opened to the horrors of ultra processed food. It's not a moral...

Are right wing politicians to blame for racism being more open and prevalent?

No. I'd say it's primarily the fault of the left who decided that skin colour matters again with all of the diversity nonsense. There's only so much people can put up with digs at "whiteness" and celebration of everyone else. Be careful what you wish for.

    Voyager/Meridian Engine Management

I've always been curious as to how the engine on a Voyager or Meridian revs in relation to the driver's power handle position. Is it directly proportional so if you select 50% power for example, the engine will rev to halfway between idle and full, or is it more clever than that as I suspect...

S Stock feels dated despite age

Lack of screens and silly bright white LEDs gets a thumbs up from me.

Should there be an aptitude test for voters?

This has to be one of the most arrogant and deranged threads I've come across. It must be tiring being so sure of yourself Doctor Pepper. One thing's for sure, you would fail my aptitude test with your contempt for differing opinion.

Why does the nonstop Kings Cross to York not feel like a fast train?

The overspeed trip only arrived with the MTU refurbishment so perfectly possible in 2003 to do over 132mph.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Travelled yesterday and it really feels like the food has reached bargain basement levels. It's been a slow decline ever since GNER went. Had the bacon roll in the morning. The bacon was decent enough but deary me, the roll was small and lacked any freshness. Crispy and dry and obviously warmed...

    The 2024 US presidential election.

Strange assessment. I see no evidence of the Republicans wanting to violate the constitution like this. That risk seems to be far more from the Democrat side.

Which year will the UK go cashless?

The point is, cash offers a buffer so systems can happily go down for a few days depending on how much cash you take out at once and you can still pay. Card however makes you reliant on tech working 100% of the time.

UK General Election 2024: The Results & Aftermath

I don't get this idea of the "Tory press". All I see is an establishment press. Both the Tories and Labour are establishment and parties that will essentially keep the status quo. The press are far more anti-establishment so parties like Reform are their target, not Labour. 1720176740 I always...
