We traveled by rail from Bradford-on-Avon to Dover last year. We walked from the station to the Port. We'd booked a hotel in Calais, but there was no bus, so a fellow passenger got us a Taxi. Easy to book in for the crossing, no fuss at all. Don't intend to use this crossing ever again...
