Train went back from Kirkby Stephen to Carlisle after detaching Tangmere. NR wouldn’t let the train leave until Tangmere had limped into the siding. Train couldn’t continue to Hellifield as there was no way to get 47802 on to the front of the train at Kirkby Stephen (or so we were told) hence...
Can confirm. Tangmere detached from the train and dumped in a siding at Kirkby Stephen. 47802 took the train back to Carlisle but was found to have incurred wheel damage in a tunnel on the way back to Carlisle. 86259 summoned from Preston to take the train back down South but with 47802’s wheel...
Talking of Mk3s the North Wales LHCS seems to have lost a coach overnight which isn’t helping with overcrowding. Assume the absent one has gone to have wheelflats sorted out or similar?
Hi there,
This is probably a question for the drivers out there: how significant is the number/total weight of passengers on the performance of a train. E.g. can you tell from the cab when you apply power that you’ve got a full and standing train?
Or is the additional weight of passengers...
Delays into Manchester Oxford Road due to a failed train - there’s an ATW 158 in the bay platform so I’m assuming it’s that. If so that’s one more unit down for ATW.
I’ll
I was going to ask about this having stayed in the area recently. Was an issue with OHLE clearance only discovered once wiring had taken place? I would have assumed that bridge alterations would be planned for and delivered before the wires go up. What happened on this occasion and is it...
Thanks for your response. I can’t imagine that will have done it much good! Do ATW have any spare 67’s or are they leasing them on rotation?
To add to today’s fun our 175 has come to a halt near Eccles due to an ‘unexpected application of the brakes’. No idea how long we’ll be here.
Morning all. Any idea what’s happened to the North Wales LHCS this week? We had 2x cl.150 yesterday and and single 3-car 175 this morning which is a little cosy given the Northern strike today. Many thanks!
I struggle with the vomit-inducing tilt too which means I can't work on the train (looking down/reading/typing brings on vertigo and nausea) so on journeys to/from London I lose approx 2 hrs working time. Doesn't seem to matter where in the train I sit. Colleagues have also reported the same...
Alas, as the owner of a magstripe defective season ticket the gates at Manchester Victoria have provided new joy in the form of sarcastic gateline staff giving it "yeah, right" and "everyone says that" when I explain there's no point putting the ticket in the gate as it will just spit it out...
Is this the 1st OHLE-related delay? Before it's even in regular use? http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/61840.aspx
Overhead wire problems near Eccles are causing delays of up to 30 minutes between Manchester Piccadilly / Manchester Victoria and Newton-le-Willows.
Anyone...
No idea if it's relevant but I was travelling over the location of the derailment on Tuesday and it was a pretty rough ride over that section near MOSI (I was on a Class 142, but even for them pretty rough).
As someone who doesn't know an awful lot about the rules and regulations but does know you are supposed to purchase a ticket before you travel, Northern do have ways of discouraging this!
For example, I regularly travel from Earlestown (have a season ticket now so less of a problem). As some...
