    Career Move..

The test was the one day affair for the driver aptitude and was with DBS, however not sure that they do that anymore. I believe there is one company that you can do them with (poss OPC), just do a bit of searching. You can't pay to do the training though, like in the aviation industry. Lanc

    Career Move..

jgul, Back in 2012, I was in a similar boat (no pun or actual boat intended), and decided to pay privately to do the aptitude tests with DBS at Donny. I sent the test certificate, along with CV and covering letter to two TOCs and received replies within days, stating their present recruitment...

Do you need a mechanical qualification for Trainee roles?

Absolutely no requirement for any mechanical quals if applying for Traincrew roles.....rest assured, and good luck. Lanc --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Although as a a caveat to that, the exception may well be when considering Train Maintainer/ On Track Machine type jobs, but...

Aaron, I'm 23 years military...left last year and now working for TPE. Quite a few guys I worked with have managed to get driving jobs also...all on first application. Many see the ex Forces guys as arrogant....what I will say is that we can come across as a little self - assured, but that is...

    TPE trainee drivers

James.....don't be disheartened.....I spoke recently to those interviewing for the Sheff jobs and you have to be encouraged by the fact that every one of those few in the mix were of an extremely high calibre. It's just a shame that there was only the one job going. You're time WILL come and so...

    How to get started???

Hi mate, I sent my CV to two TOCs in May last year and received phone calls the very next day with both, asking me to apply. One company had vacancies coming up and the other had none at the time; however they asked me to fill in a standard application form anyway and await vacancies. Good...

    Pension deduction

Not bad if the company matches 1.5 times though...that's circa 10 k into a plan each year once qualified.:D Lanc

    Pension deduction

They all appear to be different ! TPE deduction is approx 10 % and this is of course before tax which is a brucy bonus. That is 10% of representative pay, which I believe is your gross pay minus 1.5 times the state pension amount (prob about ten grand or thereabouts). Therefore if you were...
