Thanks, yes, they could have got this one at Glasgow but were concerned there would be no seats. Changing at Crewe could be an option though if it's a bit quieter.
EDIT - I see it's from Liverpool - sorry for the confusion!
Hi,
My daughter and her husband were booked on the 1638 Glasgow Central to London Euston (eventual destination Stevenage). This was cancelled and they took "next available" which was 16:51. I can't find that one anywhere on RTT but think it may be one from Edinburgh that started from Glasgow...
There are sites such as Realtime Trains and OpenTraintimes that do this. The former would appear to agree with Virgin though:

Many passengers will also regard LNER as a route rather than an operator. Occasional travellers often neither know or care who runs the trains and are often penalised as a result.
I raised the issue with GN's Twitter team, asking that they pass it on to ge it sorted out. The response was:
So it's a bit more than a software error.
Thanks for all the replies. Bear in mind that the "Weekday Super Off Peak" only appeared this week alongside the beneficial removal of evening restriction on the Off Peak. For just 50p less it doesn't seem worth the hassle.
I doubt most occasional day-trippers are aware of the LNER fares (or...
There has been talk of an "Easier Fares" initiative to reduce the complexity of ticketing and give the travelling public a reasonable shot at getting the best fare for their intended journey. However, things seem to be getting increasingly muddled.
Taking the example in the title the following...
A couple of weeks ago it was noticed that National Rail was showing tickets (specifically seasons) from Great Northern stations to London Terminals had become valid to Liverpool Street. A couple of us mentioned this to the GN Twitter Team half expecting to hear that it was a mistake but, to...
Sorry, had to share this one with you as I find it incredible! Appeared on the GN Twitter feed around 15:50 today:
Passenger: The member of staff at New Barnet station, [name redacted], is refusing to let me in the station. I have a season ticket London terminals to Oakham via any permitted...
Thanks for the prompt reply. Although the 21:05 was not the last train from Hertford to Stevenage it was the last one that would get the passenger to Lincoln the same day as per booked itenerary. Catchign the 23:05 would just leave them stranded in Stevenage overnight. Presumably tickets are...
I was just having a look at Twitter and a thread there left me wondering what the actual obligations of a TOC are to ensure a passenger can complete their journey.
Passenger was travelling Hertford North to Lincoln leaving at 21:05 to connect with the 21:56 Stevenage to Newark. Train was...
Thanks for the updates (including the Twitter thread). It will be interesting to see where they got the "GN Only" opinion from. It hadn't occurred to me that there's no GN desk at King's Cross!
That seems logical, but https://twitter.com/GNRailUK/status/1039461097823191040 shows that there is some room for doubt. There's also this comment from GN :
If you purchased this at the Great Northern desk at Kings Cross I imagine its restricted to Great Northern services.
which seems to imply...
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
