It's the same up in Scotland too. Glasgow to Edinburgh Anytime Single is £13.60 on Scotrail and only £8.50 if you use CrossCountry only tickets. The XC fare used to be as low as £2.00 a few years ago whilst the Scotrail one was around a tenner.
Your findings sum up just how unnecessarily...
The Uk is a different world compared to some other countries. I was in Vegas last christmas on the SDX bus on Christmas day going to a shopping outlet. On the bus there were regular announcements stating that all bus travel was free on New Years Eve from 9pm until 4am the following morning. None...
There is however a massive flaw at Glasgow Central, and that is the lift!
If you're coming off platforms 11 to 15 I think it is (the far ones) you can get the lift down one floor to the concourse without going through any barriers. Its madness not have this covered but Ive seen loads of...
Never thought about it like this, but you make a good point. Surely a reservation only system would be the most effective way to control the amount of passengers needing "alternative" transport.

Im travelling from Glasgow to Kings Cross on the 27th December.
I have an EC & Connections ticket.
I will be travelling into Glasgow Central on a local train. Is there anything stopping me taking a train from Central via Shotts instead of walking across the city to Queen Street with my...
Ok, maybe "drain on society" wasnt exactly an accurate remark but you get where im coming from....
Attitude is everything...
Refusing to pay, refusing to accept a UFN and then refusing to give name address is the hallmark of someone that goes through life purposely trying to avoid paying for...
Ive always told people that the one with the price stated as £0.00 is the seat reservation and the one with the correct price on is the actual ticket, i.e the one you would put through a barrier where applicable.
Scotrail don't get my vote for customer service either.
I find the communication in Glasgow Central at times appalling, There was one incident a couple of weeks back when I was at the lower level waiting on the 07:28 to Larkhall. At 07:24 I glanced at the board and it said on time, I then...
I booked via Eurostar on Friday and I was given a PDF download of my tickets and also the option to collect at St Pancras. This was for train only though. Might be worth checking your Eurostar account to see if you can print tickets off?
