It was last Saturday and Callum Anderson wasn't there.

My thoughts on Why isn’t the East West Rail (EWR) service between Oxford and MKC operating? can be found at
https://mkgreens.org/News/Details/23
If the trailing crossover at the north end of p5 and 6 was re-instated (only removed about 10 years ago) then MV services could always go into p5 and trains heading to/from Carr sidings or BR2 could pass through p6.
There is no comparison between the A5 and M1. A5 is two lane and mainly cars, relatively little traffic at night. The M1 is 4 lanes and lots of HGVs. At night it's HGVs nose to tail all night long. HGVs are far noisier than cars.

Then you don't know the residents of MK very well. I'm...
There was an error in the original BBC TMD story. It said, " If approved, the Bletchley West depot would include sidings capable of housing 25-car trains, each about 120
metres long, and maintenance workshops designed to service multiple trains."
Following my intervention with the journalist, it...
I also was there yesterday afternoon, probably at the same time as @WolvertonWorks and @D1511. Curiously I got some slightly different answers to some of the same questions. It seems to have depended upon which member of staff you spoke to.
I asked about the EWR TAA that was mention in #6954...
Correct. Although new housing is being built between the Racecourses estate and Whaddon Rd. That is in Bucks Council area, not in MKCC area, but will presumably have a bus service and cycleways so in a few years time Whaddon rd will become accessible by other modes as well as the car.
Early...
The site includes the old WWII Swanbourne Sidings.(which were not at Swanbourne)
It's a pretty inaccessible site. Staff and train crews will have to drive there unless they add a staff halt on EWR.
And here's one from the Oldham Chronicle last week.
"The Saddleworth South representative says one of the biggest issues facing the area would be the five-month closure of the A670 at Greenfield to build a new railway bridge."

Because it's not just a case of replacing the deck. The...
The road closure caused chaos in Bletchley and Fenny Stratford for the whole week. Buses were diverted but the diversion route was so congested that it had to be abandoned aFter a couple of days. Most Buses had to miss out Bletchley bus station and a shuttle bus was provided to link Bletchley...
SDO doesn't seem to be on MCHLG website yet. But here is my submission to the consultation, focussing on EWR.

(unable to post earlier because mod had closed thread)
It is true that currently to get from MKC to Marston vale line and vv trains have to use
But it would be quite easy and cheap to make platforms 6,7,8 reversible too and provide access to P5 and 6 via Bly rel 1. Only requires a handful of signals and points. That provides lots of capacity for...
Where did you get this figure of 90% via Thameslink from? I've not found that in any of the documentation. I suspect you just invented it.
My estimate is about 2/3 at Wixams and 1/3 at kempston Hardwick. That seems to fit with the figures they are suggesting for Wixams.
Agree. I think EWR Ltd made a big mistake in ignoring UDX proposal. UDX published a report in April 2024. It said:
"How would people travel to this site?
Our initial studies show that about 35% - 40% of visitors would travel to us
by train given the excellent transport links that already exist...
EEH has been campaigning for a MK-OOC service via Ayl, PR, HW for about 5 years. Surprised no-one has mentioned it in this thread. See https://eeh-prod-media.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/31774_The_Case_for_Northampton_to_Old_Oak_Common_v2.pdf Much more useful than to MYB.
Not always. The 300 that was introduced to serve Broughton and Brooklands about 15 years ago still operates (now renumbered 3/3A). It was subsidised via s106/tarriff for about first 5 years. There was a trigger clause in the planning permission that said that buses should start operating when...
Insufficient capacity. Yes you can currently reverse in P5. However it is also used to terminate Marston vale all-stations service and is the only way in or out of southern end of carriage sidings and for anything looped into Bletchley relief 2 line. So need some other platforms to be reversible...
I have been trying to convince EWR Co, EEH, DfT, etc of this for years. The new high level platforms at Bletchley are reversible from the Oxford direction but not from the Bedford direction. At the TWAO inquiry in 2019 I argued that they should be reversible from both directions so that trains...
It does occasionally happen. I was on a down LNR scheduled to use P3. The lift on P3/4 was broken and there was a pax in a wheelchair on board wanting to alight. so train was put in to P2, with working lift. Crossed back to down slow at north end of platforms.
I flushed the following info out from NR during the TWAO inquiry in 2019.
Q3. What is the cost of replacing those existing bridges between Bicester and Bletchley
that would need to be replaced/subject to some works to enable electrification
but which are not currently proposed to be replaced...
