Reinstating Platform 4 at Snow Hill
Reinstating Platform 2 & 3 at Kings Norton
Four tracking and electrifying from Cofton jnc (near Longbridge) to Barnt Green
The rail systems and civils designs need doing first - Only an outline design has been produced.
End of 2027 could be a good target date for installation or spring 2028, but that's just me speculating.
There is an ongoing study looking at introducing 4-car Class 350 trains into the bay platform. Moving the platform signal, 3m platform extension and squeezing the minimum stopping allowance.
The bulk of the platform build-out will be to the east of Park Street. It's proposed that there'll be no platform B and A over the New Street approach.
Yes - The platforms on the "Up" side / HS2 side of the station will be "B" and "A"
Platform 5 will be reinstated and a siding will be installed where the OP thought (rightly) a Platform 6 would be too tight.

Is the two second rule the design standard that says (geometrical) element lengths should be no less than 2 seconds at line speed?
A lot of the national network doesn't achieve that either and over point work it won't apply as you're constrained by S&C geometry.
I've not heard a definitive...
Housing development on the other side of the Medway.
The satellite image in the original post is a little old - Peter's bridge is now complete.
EDIT: Just spotted it's a very old thread!
Back to the original question, I'm reliably informed that there's signalling/level crossing commissioning that has caused some delay to the station opening.
There are level crossings either side of the station both currently AHB (Automatic Half-barrier). One will be converted to an MCB...
