Hi
I searched for an advance journey Chester to Manchester pic on specific start time but with open return selected.
On national rail it gave a tfw advance flex return showing as a return ticket - when I go tfw to buy it shows as a single - which is it? And if buy that do I need return same...
When I use travel planner to go Chester to Kingham it’s giving me :
Chester to Stafford
Stafford to Worcestershire Parkway
Worcestershire Parkway to Kingham
There is a route through Birmingham too but last time I went there I nearly got crushed on a platform due to congestion
Also
Chester to...
Can the extra platform at Salford Crescent help with congestion ? last few times I’ve traveled on that through to Piccadilly has been held before and in Castlefield area.

I arrived at Manchester Oxford Road for the 17:18 to Chester yesterday. Display board showed it was cancelled when arriving on platform. No alerts came from TFW. Delay repay submitted for cancelled train last night. I checked the journey on RailRadar today and it's showing as Late by 17...
On the 9th Aug I was trying to get 17:55 Manchester Oxford Road to Chester train but on arriving at the station the board said it was cancelled. No cancellation on real-time trains. Anyway, I left station to get some food and came back to get 18:55. I submitted a delay repay to TFW but...
Hi,
The season ticket for Chester to Manchester is £77/week for all routes. I was wondering what this means in practice i.e. from Chester, I can go to Manchester via Liverpool, Crewe, Mid-cheshire line, Fast line through warrington, line through to Victoria. Taking it too extreme, I can...
I need to get to Manchester Oxford Road by 9:30 for the 2 weeks the WCML work is going on at Acton Grange Junction. The best I've heard from station staff is getting a bus from Chester to Newton-le-Willows but i do not fancy this (Warrington is a nightmare during peak time). Note, I plan on...
I read online that we’re getting old London Underground d78 stock for Chester - Crewe. Some of it being 40 years old.
Chris Grayling was on the news saying we’d be getting new trains in the North West. Since when are 40 year old trains new?
I guess this is related to having English rail...
I need to get to Birchwood, Warrington from Chester. I can get the 7:39 and arrive at 8:50. 1hr 10 mins.
Is there an easier way to get to Birchwood? i.e. train/bus? I suppose I could take my bike and cycle the last 5 miles.
I was hoping to catch the train from Chester to Old Trafford but it seems the only way is : Chester to Altrincham and then Metro to Old Trafford.
The other way is Chester to Piccadilly to Metro Old Trafford.
Time is 1:41 / 1:26.
Considering driving takes approx 1 hr I was wondering if...
I noticed after the change to the time table there is a change to the 7:40 which currently gets to Oxford Rd at 8:41.
Going forward it will be 7:38 arriving 8:47.
What is the reason for the slower journey? Is it a slower train or due to increasesed braking distance etc..
My other half booked us on a trip to Italy (Como - up north).
When I found out the transport from the airport (Milan) was eu120 each way I quickly considered the train.
Lucky for us there was a train station at the airport heading into Milan. We had to switch to get a regional train to...
In the past 2 months I've had to replace my season ticket 3 times as it stops working at machines (bought from Chester st). The season ticket is kept in a wallet the same as during past 2 years. Nothing has changed on my side so the quality of the tickets must have dropped.
I wouldn't mind...
I read with interest the journey time from Chester to Manchester is targeted to be 40 minutes with northern hub dev.
Are we likely to see this happen? Find it hard to believe given the trip takes over 1hr today.
If it does happen it makes a manchester commute seem more interesting...
When buying a return ticket from Wrexham to Northwich the ticket price is £9.70. This involves a train from Wrexham to Chester and then a different train from Chester to Northwich.
If I buy a ticket for the Chester to Northwich train the price is £10.10.
Seems very odd. I happen to live...
A couple of months ago I arrived at the station and saw my train was not delayed (based on info screen). I bought my ticket with my debit card at the ticket machine and when I arrived at the platform my train was not there (it is usually there 5 minutes prior). After waiting a further 20 mins...
I get the train from Chester to Northwich twice a week, the odd time three times a week. £10.10 return !!!
It doesn't make sense to buy a season ticket unless I regularly travel 4 times a week and buy a 12 month season ticket. Even then I save £280/yr after paying £1820 up front.
I...
I recently moved to Chester. I commute to Northwich, usually in a car.
As I live in the City, within walking distance of the station, I thought it would be a crime not to use the train to get to work.
I was shocked to learn it costs £9.20 for a peak return ticket from Chester-Northwich...
