Advice please! No Railcard

I'm hoping someone can give me a bit of advice because I"m really confused over this. On Friday I travelled between Yatton and Leeds on a ticket with a 16-25 railcard. Once I was on the train I realised my railcard was expired, so I quickly ordered myself a new one and hoped they wouldn't check...
