In your opinions, how do the seats on 395s stack up against older intercity rolling stock like the HSTs and voyagers, or if (we can dream) the ECML was to be upgraded to 140 capability how far north could they get before people started complaining about achy backs?
If a TOC was to run an IET at 10 Carriages without joining up 2 5 car units has anyone any idea how long would it be?
So you’d have just the 2 driving ends and 8 carriages
cheers
*Not sure if this should be in speculative ideas so move if needed.
Hi, can some clear this up, if you depart from a station with a ticket office and a ticket machine which dispenses promise to pay tickets, is the PRMS To pay valid on the train? Thanks
So i recently got an EMR smart card (because why not) when i noticed it said you can use it to " purchase your season, off peak or anytime tickets"
I always though smart cards could only be used for season tickets so does anyone know of any other TOCS that let you buy standard singles/returns...
wondering if anyone can help me out here but it’s a long shot, once you’ve took a photo on the H300 and go to the gallery but lets you zoom in and move the picture around but I can’t find a way to save the edited picture which is annoying.
Does anyone know how to save the edited picture? Thanks
(Not sure if this should be in the ‘speculative ideas’ thread so feel free to move)
So here’s something rather interesting which may start a debate.
Given the negative feedback both GWR and LNER have revived regarding their 80*s (mainly GWR) should we of gone with a fleet of MK5 coaches...
What would you say is the chance of getting a sneaky free first upgrade?
I’m on tonight’s Doncaster to Hull Azuma and might try my luck with the guard (if you don’t ask you don’t get )
* Before I get shouted at, normals I’d just pay the difference but it’s only an hour and at the most I’ll get...
Today finally marked the first revenue service for LNERs 800s.
So the question on everyone’s mind, are the seats that bad?
I spent today on twitter looking up key words like “Azuma seat” and “LNER uncomfortable” and could find many bad comments so I’m assuming that they’ve improved the seats??
I was at Leeds on Sunday trying to buy a Greater Manchester Area- Day Saver TM (train and tram) rover from the Northern operated ticket office.
I was informed that I could only use the ticket in a certain numbered zone, when I challenged this she said I’ll have to go to Manchester to buy it.
I...
hi, quick question
Is it illegal to have ticket barriers/ gates in operation without a member of staff manning them?
This would make sense since most barriers (in my experience) don’t read rail rovers or just don’t work half the time
So I’ve just realised that Megabus heavily relies on Stagecoach running the MML for their routes into London
(they take people to the nearest MML station and then put them on a EMT train to St Pancras)
When Stagecoach stop running the MML what will happen to the Megabus service?
hi, I’m going from Manchester Picc to Manchester Airport on the train and then I’m hoping to get the 737 bus from the airport train station to the runway visitors park
Has anyone else done this as I have two questions
•How much is a return from station to the visitors park
•Can someone link...
Picture this, a guy is kicking off because he’s just been given a penalty Fair and ends up assaulting the guard or another passenger.
It turns out the guard is a special Constance (with BTP or any other force)
Would the guard arrest the suspect for assault or call the police to deal with it?
So I know Greater Anglia allow people to have a go on the driver simulators, but are there any other TOCs who allow this?
I’d like to have a go, but going to London is too far. Thanks.
I was talking to a friend yesterday who had rode the Leeds to Ilkley line recently on a 333, he said the line is very picturesque and has some great views. I’ve always liked lines with a view and
was wondering if anyone else had rode this line and if it’s worth the money? Thanks
Hi, so hull trains were showing off their 802s on TV today, HT have said the 802s have more seats than the 180s but haven’t stated any exact figures.
Will they have the same seating plan as GWRs 5 coach IETs
Thanks
I haven’t had the chance to ride on a 800/1 yet so when people slag them off I don’t know if they’re being honest or not.
I get the 800s with GWR are very dull (grey boring seats) but are they actually that uncomfortable?
My theory is that people are subconsciously biased when it comes to...
