I hold the second half of an off peak ticket to Preston. If I use Transpennine all the way, is the 08:57 out of Middlesbrough a permitted train?

It appears there aren't any peak restrictions on this flow, but £98.90 is steep without a railcard. Are there any good splitting points? (The travel is for a likely job interview but I don't have times yet - given the journey length I might split over two days with a hotel)
