Hi.
Sorry if this is already mentioned, but I just wanna mentioned about the East Lincs Railway exibition currently on.
It takes place in Alford near Louth and it has several items from the said railway that closed exactly 45 years ago.
It runs til the end of October at the Alford Manor House...
Hi.
Heres an interesting topic. Does anyone know anyone, or is someone, to do a last on the rail network.
Meaning last to drive a train, close a station for the last time, take a journey on a closed line etc.
My other half was the very last signaller at both Spalding and Littleworth...
Hi.
There were problems on the EC on Mon 21 Sep. Something to do with with a rail defect in the Newark area. Not a problem tho! Certain trains can be diverted onto the GN/GE, well... the usual suspects being Hull Trains, Maybe some Grand Central services and the occasional freight...
Hi.
Having read The Simpsons thread, i thought id start a new thread that takes the comedy subject the other way.
Does any have any favoutite comedies or sitcoms that only lasted one season? Either because they were unpopular maybe or the public just didnt get them! Maybe they only lasted...
Hi.
Random question: Why is the first few miles of track to the east of Crewe towards Alsager singled?
Was it just a cost cutting excercise back in the day?
I know i should know the answer but i dont! :D
Hi.
I dont know what happened, but today I was out photographing the 'spate of freight' north of Spalding.
The Selby - Felixstowe went through no probs and I saw two passenger trains pass at the same time at one of the former crossings.
Then, the trains on the down line ground to a...
Hi.
Just one day after Littleworth LC failed again, the usual 2 LCs failed this morning in Spalding. Namely Mill Green LC and Park Road LC.
Yet again, due to axle box fail.
Hi.
Today, probably right now, the barriers at Littleworth LC between Peterborough and Spalding, are stuck down.
Its been about a year since they went OD MCB and they have failed about 5 times since then.
Hi.
Before the Joint Line was upgraded, we had 6E88 (Middleton Towns to Goole Glassworks) 3 times a week.
Since the upgrade, we now have...
Doncaster - Felixstowe containers on most week nights
Felixstowe - Selby most week mornings
Biggleswade - Heck Plasmor 3 times a week
Selby -...
Hi.
In October last year, the GN/GE Joint line received most of it's £280m completion.
So... I thought it would be 'fun' for people to share their stories about whats happened on the line so far!
Heres my pennies worth...
As far as I know, last week (May 2015), the first example of a...
Hi.
Subject close to my heart this one, but does anyone have any idea when the disused GN box at Littleworth (Deeping St. Nicholas) be grounded?
All the non preserved boxes have gone now. At Spalding, if you didnt know there was a box there, you'd never know!
As far as I know...
Hi.
For at least the third time this year, and about the 5th time since the signal box went less than a year ago, Spalding was ground to a halt again due to faulty barriers!
I'm led to believe that Park Road LC barriers were stuck down as well. This leads me to believe it was axle box...
Hi.
Having just read the thread about the Doncaster North crossing closures, it's reminded me that...
Woodcroft LC (manned or womaned)
Helpston LC (signaller with gate box)
Maxey Road CCTV LC
Lolham CCTV LC
Tallington CCTV LC
Greatford CCTV LC
...are on the agenda for closure, or...
Hi.
Most signal box enthusiasts, like myself, are hyper aware of the plight of the former signal box at Deeping St. James. Actually, at the moment, it doesnt exist anymore! The box dating from 1876 is currently on various pallets (brick and bricks and more bricks) with an uncertain future...
Hi.
Sorry if this subject has currently got a thread. Im new!
This week, I was shown a facebook message by someone. It was from a train driver saying that Network Rail are once again, bringing up the subject of reopening the 1982 closed March to Spalding line.
This subject has rattled...
