I'm considering doing a bit of track bashing...
Would like to do
Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness then return to Southend Central. Then walk to Southend Victoria and get the train back to Liverpool Street
Is it possible to get a return ticket that'll cover this?
I'm staying in the area of SW Scotland so was checking RTT for any unusual trains.
I came across this train ...

.... run by Northern Trains!
It doesn't appear as starting at Dumfries in the Northern Timetable, it is shown as...
I'm trying to get from Lockerbie for a day trip to Edinburgh on Friday 27th December 2019.
It looks like it is bus from Motherwell.
What is happening? I even tried to go via Glasgow with a walk to Queen Street - I was sent back via Central.
I assume train to Edinburgh is a no no.
Interesting annotated video showing some of the issues over the Ordsall Chord, through Deansgate, Oxford Road and platforms 13/14 at Piccadilly. It is interesting to note the trains queuing to get into Platform 14.
It also ends the myth about lightly loaded trains arriving and leaving the...
I went from Stockport to Pwllheli last Saturday. We changed at Shrewsbury to the Cambrian line.
The train was a 4 car class 158 that had started at Birmingham International. The train splits at Machynlleth, 2 cars to Pwllheli and 2 to Aberystwyth.

I just seem to go round and round in circles and am unable to get to a person. Mr Branson's mobile would be useful.
Further to the 'nearest' thread, this got me thinking which grounds are furthest from a regular train service.
I've not given it a lot of thought but Fleetwood Town was the first that came to mind, must be a good 6-miles - although you could argue it has a tram stop close by.
I'm sure there...
The title isn't very clear but what I mean is, can you identify any new road over or under bridges that have been built across a railway that has never been needed because the railway has/was closed at the time of construction.
I can think of two that I'm fairly sure have not been needed as...
Apologies if there is a thread elsewhere but I couldn't find one.
But what is the new station being constructed somewhere near Langley Mill on the Sheffield to Nottingham line? I passed yesterday and platforms are going in.
In recent weeks I have gone to a local station and at two different stations I have found that the ticket machine(s) was/were broken and I was unable to collect my pre-booked tickets.
Luckily on both occasions I was collecting tickets at least 18-hours before I was due to travel and I was able...
I have booked a journey to Oxford from the Manchester area and have an Anytime Return ticket.
The meeting I was travelling to has been put back 3-weeks, I know the return portion is still valid but is the outward leg still valid?
