Stumbled across this article that GWR will be getting new seat cushions for First Class on the 166 fleet. Can't help but think there are trains in the GWR fleet with a more pressing need for new seat cushions though... :rolleyes...
Just landed in London Heathrow after a near 15hr flight from Tokyo. Not sure if it's the exhaustion talking, or this really doesn't make any sense.
I was sat on the plane, and booked a ticket for my ride home, Heathrow Terminal 5 to Exeter St Davids.
But on closer inspection, the itinerary on...
Hello,
Recently my mum applied for a Two Together Railcard with my sister. On receiving it in the post, one photo is present, but the other one is just a yellow square.
Unsure what to do about this, an email has been sent to Railcard, but travel is in about a week.
Suggestions appreciated.
Just seen on Facebook pics of 57312 hauling a converted Class 319 in the ROG Onion livery.
I was expecting this to be a Class 769/5, but it seems they have decided to reclassify these as Class 768 now.
Working seems to be 1212 Eastleigh Arlington to Wembley H.S., running quite delayed...
Hello,
I am soon travelling to Portugal, and plan to avail of the interesting looking railway system there.
Doing some research, me and my friend have discovered the Portugal Rail Pass, offered by the main national passenger operator CP (Comboios de Portugal). This seems to offer great value...
Hello,
With the Trans-Siberian being a good 6+ days of travel, I am curious as to what locos you could expect to get on a typical journey, and where they would change. It must change a lot, and have a decent variety of locos. Presumably all electric throughout.
Does anyone have any ideas...
Thought it would be fit to create a thread to discuss the many upcoming changes in the European Railway Timetable 2020, starting on the 15th of December 2019.
One such development I noticed is what appears to be a direct service between Praha hl.n. and Minsk-Pass, that's Czechia to Belarus...
Following this event I experienced last Sunday, I am left wondering what passenger rights are, should they have a reservation in a first class seat with a standard class ticket.
Now that FirstGroup / Trenitalia have won the West Coast, we know that there is a sizable stock order, some to displace current stock and some to expand.
Some electric, and some bi-mode, the intention being to displace the Voyager fleet.
But it would be interesting to know if the new stock...
Hello,
I am posting this on behalf of a friend, who wishes to use their InterRail pass on an early morning service from Gravesend to St Pancras International in order to connect with a Eurostar service to Paris Gare du Nord.
Of course normal trains are covered by the InterRail 'outbound...
The RSSB appears to have released its research on seat comfort, and in absolutely no surprise whatsoever, all seven of the trains they tested failed their targets.
Hopefully this will mark a change in comfort for future builds at least...
It seems that once upon a time, these units were used on frequent shuttles between Ljubljana and Maribor, and even on some additional services to Koper, and Venezia (Italy).
Nowadays it's just a one-off trip out early in the morning from Maribor to Ljubljana, then returning mid-afternoon. What...
Hello all,
I've been trying to use the routeing guide (routeing point calculator) to find permitted routes for a variety of journeys I need to make, but it seems to be unavailable, and instead just shows such rubbish as this in place of where anything useful should be:
{{rp.location.name}}...
It seems that recently the new c2c booking engine has made itself available:
https://ticketsbeta.c2c-online.co.uk/c2cweb/index.html
I really like it! I'm sure there are a few faults (some of which I have found), but all in all, it's nice. Probably my new go-to booking site unless there are...
Hello,
I have had a large number of previous claims with SWR in which they have easily paid up for delay repay on combinations of tickets, including some rather complex ones with lots of different tickets and ticket types, all of which were paid out correctly the first time, or at least paid...
Struggling with a plan at the moment, to try and avoid a nasty bus ride.
In this scenario, the regular route between A and B is shut, and there are buses instead. However there are train services from A to C, and from C to B. C is further away from A, than B is.
I know the NRCOT states the...
As of today, the InterRail pass has been upgraded!
New features include:
• More global pass choices, now ranging from three days (as low as £157), to three months (as low as £645)!
• New country joins the fray, with Lithuania being a part of the Global Pass, as well as having the one country...
