Line was effectively closed from 1700 to 2100 yesterday. CIS gave the cause as signal failure, while NRE suggested power supply failure. Certainly the signals visible from Penshurst platforms were out. According to RTT, the 1700 RDH-TON was stuck at Godstone for 163 minutes.
My question is...
Does a fare from A to B have to be the same as B to A (via the same routeing and same time conditions etc.)?
There are odd examples I have come across where this is not the case, which I suspect to be an error. Both directions set by the same TOC.
Is there a particular reason why the off-peak service is doubled, but only on Thursday and Friday? It does seem rather bizarre. I can't believe it is demand-led, so my only thoughts are (a) there still aren't enough crew to cover Mondays to Weds, or (b) it's some kind of maintenance regime...
