I'm booked to be travelling from Cheshire to Cambridge next week, with a section being Birmingham to Cambridge (13:22 from Birmingham on 10/12/25 & returning from Cambridge 16:00 on 11/12/25) with Cross Country (XC). Having just had a nosey on RTT, I notice that this route has been terrible for...
Taken from Bradford's local paper the Telegraph & Argus today (30/01/24):

It will be interesting to see if this does go ahead, completion for the start of 2025 seems wildly ambitious if I'm...
I noticed yesterday on my way home that at least 1 Class 333 had yellow passenger doors at both cab ends, and I've seen similar whilst walking along the Leeds Liverpool Canal. I don't have the unit number, and the that I've two that I've seen may be the same one but I was just wondering if...
I've just left Warrington Bank Quay station on the request of station staff, owning to an incident at the station. I don't know a lot more but passengers are being sent to Central for south and east bound services. And I can confirm staff at Central are aware and accepting tickets at the gates.

Have any of you been paying any attention to that this government is doing? They are starting to allow a decline in passenger services, franchises are falling left, right and centre, big...
All services are currently cancelled through Bradford Interchange due to a fire on Mill Lane close to the line going into the Interchange. Its a pretty big fire so its unclear when services will be allowed to restart:

I haven't done that since the first time. Whilst I admire the healthcare staff, I would rather people dedicate their time to sending a message...
Following some discussions with family members on the issue, I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread specifically on the issues arising for workers currently furloughed by the crisis, and for the self employed.
One family member yesterday asked me when they might expect to receive...
The only problem with a hybrid railway is that you end up dragging around heavy diesel engines around for relatively small sections. This is passible for extensions to places of electric mains where it is simply not viable to wire. But for services like Liverpool-Newcastle across the North...
Following a suggestion on the Leeds Capacity thread, I've set this one up to explore people's ideas on how to best provide sufficient capacity for the Aire & Wharfe lines now & in the future. These two lines serve areas that are seeing considerable housing developments, and with their primarily...

This thread is rapidly descending into la-la land, from controlling the movement of large birds which often roam over many acres of land, to making indestructible trains that.can not be damaged by large objects whilst travelling at speeds...
There is quite a serious report emerging this afternoon of a Yorkshire Tiger bus having driven into an opticians store in Shipley West Yorkshire. Very few details as yet, other than another vehicle may have been involved, but judging by the pictures emerging on social media & replicated in the...
There's been a landslip as a result of heavy rain & melted snow between Guiseley & Apperley Junction, resulting in that section of line being closed, potentially for at least the rest of today. Most Leeds<>Ilkley services are cancelled save a few diverted via Shipley in the peaks.
There is a rumour circulating on social media this morning that Bradford based TLC is set to lose it's contracts for most, if not all services in Bradford & Keighley. A photo of a staff notice has appeared on a local community group informing them that Bradford services have been awarded to...
There are problems for services this afternoon at Leeds, with lots of services currently delayed due to a failure at the western throat. Just leaving on 2H52 15:56 Leeds-Skipton we've passed a 150 (203 I think) that seems to have sat down just outside the station. ETA on NR for normal service...
Bradford Council are currently undertaking a consultation on suggested improvements to Bradford Forster Square and it's immediate surroundings (with a similar consultation / improvements possibly in the pipeline for Bradford Interchange). Details are currently very basic, with only artists...
Coming from the Northern penalty fares thread (link below), it occurred to me that with the new TVM technology going into most/all Northern stations that there might be new opportunities for new ticketing technology to be introduced...

The double use of the 70 route number could get interesting as the First Leeds 70 stops outside the train station (or will do again once the re-cladding of the old City House is done). But hey ho, joined up thinking and all that...
Some dreadful news last night about a terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena which has already seen some 19 killed and 59 injured. Obviously Manchester Victoria is currently closed, with advice just coming out from the operators:
