Split annual ticket

I heard that it is possible to split an annual train ticket from Congleton to Manchester by having a season ticket from Congleton to Bramhall and then having a GMPTE annual traincard from Bramhall to Manchester (covering all Greater Manchester stations). Some of the trains don't stop in...
