Passing through Morpeth on Saturday and Sunday, I noticed extensive de- vegetation (is that the correct term) of the north facing bay platforms.
Is there a plan to bring these platforms back into service?
It's been a very long time since I saw a 37 in the flesh.
Passing Craigentinny yesterday, 37403 was in a siding there and I was reminded of its sheer size.
From a time when I remember character in locomotives, over the identikit trains we have today
Nice to see the departure boards at Newcastle have been updated to the TV screen type from the 'dot matrix' screens there previously.
I'd seen them at Durham and Berwick before and felt they were a welcome update to the stations (and more informative)
Glad to see that they've been installed in...
I have been through to Glasgow today for work.
Today on both occasions and on my previous two trips there, I've had the same connection issues between my iPod and my Bluetooth earbuds while on the concourse.
Just wondering if there's a known interference problem there and if anyone else has...
I had my first trip over the rails of the above yesterday, and I didn't see a bit of it :'(
We travelled from London to Edinburgh, leaving Kings Cross at 4:30pm.
Aware of the work at Darlington and of the alert that bus replacements were being laid on, I thought the timetable meant we'd be on...
Is the message if I try to view the site on the desktop or over WiFi on my phone (turn the WiFi off and it works perfectly, hence my ability to post this)
I've noticed it with some sites that I access this weekend. They also work perfectly on mobile data.
Googling tends to suggest I clear cache...
I'm travelling down to my parents next weekend.
Just booked my tickets and noticed the connection between Newcastle and Chester le St is a 20 minute journey.
Are there speed restrictions because of the engineering works between Newcastle and York that weekend that are causing the more than...
Not sure if I've put this in the right category but has anyone had any experience of the above?
An advert for their app came up on social media tonight.
I was intrigued, haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but how genuine is it and are the prices as competitive as train split?
Currently on a train from Birmingham to York.
Due to a cancelled train, a trainload have joined us at Sheffield.
We are on a split ticket.
Upon having to move seats at Sheffield, I've found that one of our tickets has been double booked for the same seat with somebody else.
Consequently, with...
Just watching Geoff Marshall's Avanti 805 review and 2 things struck me.
He says the Voyagers are to be decanted to XC to create extra capacity. Are XC intending to make 10 car trains that don't need two sets of staff as they do now when they join two units?
Also, watching this and also having...
Hi all,
I've just been made aware that I may have a claim for delay repay for the above journey.
We were scheduled to leave Waverley at 12:12 on a direct TPE train to Piccadilly.
The train was cancelled.
We were however, allowed to travel on alternative TOC's to get to our destination.
We...
Morning all,
Trying to book Newcastle to Edinburgh for February 18th
Looking for the 19:21 service.
I normally book everything through the LNER website/ app (just to keep everything in the one place, I do also have Lumo, XC, GWR and TPE apps too)
The train I want isn't listed when I do a...
Seen on Google News last night.
What a monumental waste of money that's been

Train was delayed by a broken down train between York and Northallerton and I arrived in Edinburgh 43 minutes late.
I had bought two tickets for me and my partner Edinburgh to Newcastle and back but my partner...
Afternoon all, myself and my o/h went to the Morrisons supermarket built on the land that Granton Gasworks in Edinburgh used to be.
We walked down past the perimeter of where Granton Castle used to stand.
While walking down the bank we spotted the lines that I've enclosed in a red box in the...
Anyone know why there are 2 lines to enable you to travel between the two stations in that direction?
Is one of them a relief line?
Apologies if this has been asked before.
DLC'd this one recently, and am enjoying it immensely, if it had been the main route when I bought the game, I think I'd be much more proficient at the whole thing as I struggled in the beginning with locos on Transpennine and Tees Valley (opening the throttle to wide too quickly, the red zig...
Whatever happened to this ticket?
I know it was 5 years ago the last time I had cause to use it.
When did they withdraw it?
Booked as per a normal train journey from Bristol Airport through Temple Meads to your destination and wasn't that much extra on top of what your train ticket would be...
There are 2 of these at Newcastle Central Station. One between platforms 1 & 2 and one between 3 & 4.
Am I right in assuming that they were shunting/ dispatching boxes in steam days?
